What are your opinions on them actually sentencing Bill Cosby to serve jail time?
@i_accidentally not one time did i say i disagreed with the conviction, i just agree that there wasn't any sense in sentencing him to anymore then 3-10 years because to him that is a life sentence.
@wvgirl, so you should know there is no need to judge someone for not speaking up.
@tatsandcats i wasn't molested but i was sexually assaulted and touched and forced to touch someone else one time. I didn't call the cops because there wasn't any witnesses or proof but i took matters in to my own hands.
@wvgirl, lol. No you don’t always call the cops. I didn’t tell about any of my attacks to family until like 10 years later. A lot of factors go into telling. Most likely you won’t be believed or there will be no evidence and nothing they can do. If I could get my attackers put on prison for coming out to the police right now 14 years later I wouldn’t hesitate. But at the time I wouldn’t have.
@wvgirl this is my last response on this. You clearly have your mind made up and object to the conviction. He drugged and raped these women and the jury found him guilty. You have no choice but to accept what the jury and judge has decided. Luckily you weren't either and can't decipher what "substantial" is or isn't. Your law enforcement background (whatever that may be) isn't the final word. I hope you never have to experience what these women have.
@i_accidentally yes i do and i know that even a jury usually can't even convict a person with substantial evidence so i'm surprised the trial wasn't dismissed due to a technicality but i'm sure there will be an appeal soon.
That's how the judicial system works. Evidence and testimony is brought forth to a jury and a jury of your peers decides your fate. It's not a court of YOUR opinion, they have guidelines they have to follow.
@wvgirl yet he was tried and convicted in a court of law with said evidence. I'm not understanding. Are you a lawyer?
@i_accidentally there wasn't substantial evidence to convict him
What😂.. there was evidence... including a recorded conversation that his attorneys are trying to use in their appeal. It sounds like you don't know much about this. Do your research and then come back.
@i_accidentally if u read about the trail there was no evidence
@wvgirl corroboration.. emails.. texts.... recorded conversations. There's more to evidence then just physical. Clearly they had that in this case
@i_accidentally you say with proof but these claims happened 20+ years ago so how would there have been evidence?
@wvgirl why is that? Does the victims pain and trauma go away after a certain amount of years? They should be held accountable, with proof, no matter how long it takes the survivor.
@i_accidentally no but there should be a statue of limitations
@wvgirl Why sentence murderers to 200 yrs or multiple life sentences even though they dont make it past one life sentence? Dont get it.
@wvgirl, that sounds a lot like victim blaming to me. He did the crime he should be held to the same standard as anyone else no matter how long it took his victims to come out about it or how old he is. Yes maybe they took his age into consideration when sentencing him but does that make it right? Not really. That doctor that was molesting the Olympic Athletes wasn’t caught right away either so does that mean he doesn’t deserve as much time because his victims were scared to tell anyone??
@wvgirl it is not up to you or anyone else to determine how a woman deals with the sexual trauma she's experienced. You'd be surprised how many women don't report due to feeling ashamed, confused or blame themselves
@wvgirl Actually as a victim of sexual abuse it took me 4 yrs to find the courage to tell on my abuser and my abuser was not reprimanded. You dont know what you would do until its done to you. Its harder than you think to emotionally sort out what has happened, why and will it continue. I had times of feeling sorry for my abuser bc his mother had passed away and I felt a responsibility to not hurt further even after he had hurt me so badly. Its not some thing that is so black and white.
@majorreign and that's what i'm saying, the judge didn't have to sentence him anymore then 3-10 years to know that will be his whole life.
@majorreign what about the fact that those women waited years and years and years to come forward about it? If someone molested you, you're calling the cops right away aren't you?
@wvgirl For the principals of he is a monster and it shouldnt be taken lightly. What if a 25 yr old saw the Bill Cosby story and though hmmm he only got 3 yrs after sexually abusing that many, 3 yrs isnt bad at all! Im just saying he shouldn't be treated any differently for age or status. If you commit a crime of that extent doesnt matter who you are how old you are you will be locked up kept from hurting others for the rest of your life.
Honestly I didn't consider his age either.
@majorreign the judge probably thought the same when sentencing him, he probably won't make it a year in prison homestly.
@majorreign what's the point in sentencing him to 50+ years though if he will be lucky to live for the next 3 years? It would be different if he was only 30 years old and then yeah i would probably agree that he deserves way more time.
@wvgirl Thats what he deserves! I didnt take into consideration when typing my comment how old he really is. But I feel like the sentencing was to light for him. There are offenders spending life in prison over marijuana charges and Bill Cosby Americas Dad wants to rape and molest countless amounts of people and gets 3-10 yrs sentencing? Our justice system is very confusing. All of this in my opinion.
@majorreign he will die in prison unless someone gets him out some how. He will be lucky to live another 3 years especially in a prison.
He should die in prison. He is an evil man and what he did is despicable! I hope no one else takes his light sentencing into play when thinking about sexually harming another being!!
Not enough time.
He was only sentenced on one case what about the 50+ other cases .. imo
@tatsandcats i still believe though that with those women's ages and his age and the fact that their accusations happened 20+ years ago, they should have come forward a lot sooner.
