Okay ladies I need help!
My baby girl is 5w old today. She is breastfeed with the occasional formula feeding (nutrimigen). She has had many nights where she will scream and cry for hours for no apparent reason. We took her to the doc and she suspected acid reflux and gas. So she started her on ranitidine and gas drops. It seemed like the ranitidine actually constipated her so then she was screaming crying trying to poop or pass gas. No amount of gas drops helped. We moved on to gripe water. That did nothing. I called the doc and she isnt taking it seriously and immediately blames my breastmilk because I consume dairy (reason why she said use hypoallergenic formula when i FF). I really dont think it's a dairy issue. But idk what to think anymore. I took her off of the ranitidine and gripe water because I HATE giving that to her since it's so hard for her to get down. I'm now trying just gas drops which was going okay but now we have had another 2 nights of screaming crying for hours and refusing my breast and being inconsolable.
Any advice?? I'm desperate here. My husband feels distanced from her because every night he comes home and within 30min she starts screaming for hours til he needs to go to bed for work.

@rachael.mei your welcome! Also to help her bowels digest try pushing her knees into her tummy and stretch them straight (keep repeating) do pretend bicycle kicks also one leg up while the other down n rotate. I had the same issue with my babies.. You'll get through it just gotta make sure your assisting the digestive system by laying her on her left side, sitting her up, burping, eliminate acidic foods from your diet and constipation workouts for baby

@mommytok she has had some formula ever since she was born because it took a few days for my milk to come in and she got dehydrated. The fussiness started once she was maybe like 2 weeks old which was before the formula switch. I burp every 1/2 oz even when shes being fed my BM in a bottle. I use medela bottles with slow flow nipples

@rachael.mei I am a vegetarian. So I don't eat meat but I dabble in dairy. Mostly almond (self made) and coconut milk. I want to breastfeed so my aunt in law told me to change my diet early not just for the baby's health when they are unborn but also when you breastfeed. Whole milk is not good for kids..no kid. It has hormones that rapidly speeds up kids hormones and it can make a kid gassy and causes osteoporosis in bones. Don't give up on diary just choose a better kind. Or just eat almonds

Did the screaming start before or after you started the occasional formula? It does take a few weeks for them to fully adjust to a new formula, maybe that’s it? Is she being pace fed? What size nipple on her bottles? Burped plenty? Try burping every half ounce when she’s getting a bottle. If you’re sure it’s not the formula, try an elimination diet to see if it is your milk. First cut any common gassy foods (broccoli, onions, cauliflower, etc). If that doesn’t work, cut dairy, etc. It may help to speak with a lactation consultant also! Good luck! I’ve been there with mine also.

My girls were fine for a few weeks on just breast milk even tho I consumed dairy, then they started to get really gassy and fussy and have acid reflux and the drs put them on ranitidine and still has done nothing for them. They get gas drops every day and still didn't help. We switched to full ff and they are still the same way. Hope you find answers for your little one. We are still trying to figure it out but our drs don't want to try anything different BC they were preemies.

@mommy2babygirl they said that they think its dairy so I cant do regular formula and have to do hypoallergenic. Maybe I need to completely cut out dairy awhile and see if it subsides although I cant do that forever but at least then I would know to just go to FF

@rachael.mei, yeah luckily she likes the gentlease; gripe water made my daughter way worse so did gas drops, but I really really didn’t wanna give it up, I only did because it was best for her little tummy.
