My 1 1/2yr old grabbed my straightener and burned his tips I feel like crap. Idk what to do but urgent care can't do anything no remedies I put aloe vera and he isn't in any pain so my mom says wait until the blisters pop. Any ideas ladies
@alice-quinnsmommy, Any doctor who suggests popping burn blisters should go back to school 🙄 Those blisters form for a reason to protect the underlying exposed skin from infection. I’m a nurse and was required to do burn training, and nowhere do they suggest people rupturing those fluid filled sacks. Just because you do it does not make it something you should suggest to others. Especially with pins 🤦♀️ I’m sorry but that’s just not what you do or what anyone should do. Burns are incredibly susceptible to infection.
Even though I guess it looks so painful to us he is doing perfectly fine and it takes 2 weeks to heal about roughly. Nothing we can do for blisters unless they pop and are infected just keeping it clean with soap and water. Thank you ladies
@hollyn216 yes she said that's what they usually give but he is all well
@penelope127 they had the last appt if I could make it there before 5 when they closed which I did. My children's Dr only does same say sick appts if they are booked they recommend the urgent Care or hospital.
@sandryane0317, so how does your drs office work when you can just go right in to be seen? What happens to the people with appointments?
Yes same thing happened with my daughter but she but her hand in candle when she 10 month old I take her to ER and the just said I have to but Cream and keep it clean and close for 3 day after that blister pop and just keep it clean and dry the cream oh offer counter for burn I got one from Walgreens
Same thing happend to my dd 2 years ago. I ran to Walmart and bought some burn gel for pain. And the next day the blister pop on it's on and then put vitamin E oil. But I put the gel and oil on nap time and at nite cuz she wouldn't let me put anything on it.
Wow! That’s amazing you could go to your drs office, be seen without an appointment, and be back home in 34 minutes!
@sandryane0317, So good the doctor laid eyes on him ❤️ Did they advise on how to cover them? Poor little guy I got my ear with the curling iron not long ago and boy that sucked.
I was never planning on popping any blisters no matter what anyone says especially if I don't even listen to my husband LOL I remember when I popped my own they burn like hell so I would not put my child through that
I did not pop the blisters I took him to his doctor instead of CVS they said that it was okay the redness around the blisters are perfectly fine and everything is forming okay it just takes time for it to heal so he will be fine thank you
@alice-quinnsmommy, Your clearly not understanding why the blisters are there. That’s ok. Just don’t suggest others to do it 🤦♀️
@alice-quinnsmommy, your suggesting this to a 1 1/2 year old. It’s going to be hard enough treating these blisters, and your suggesting popping the blisters that add an extra cushion to keep from getting infected?
@beakymcspence sterilized and that's what the bandaging protects from, it's a tiny hole, I've never had any issues with it, no one I know has. I was just stating.

Thanks for the suggestions omw to CVS now
@beakymcspence I w asnt giving advice, I said what I do. That's what my childhood, now the pediatrician of all my little siblings has said to do. It's better than them accidentally popping them on their own and the bandaging keeps them from tearing the skin.
@alice-quinnsmommy that's what my husband said to do but I'm a Freak when it comes to stuff like that
@alice-quinnsmommy, That is horrible advice, and you shouldn’t give out medical advice quite like that if your not knowledgeable hun. Burn blisters form to protect the underlying skin to prevent infection. You don’t damage those blisters intentionally. @sandryane0317, Yes love aloe is a great idea! Avoid him soaking the hand in the tub, as well.
@sandryane0317, do you have mittens or small Cotton gloves? I’m trying to remember what they gave us for our son when nana wasn’t watching and he touched the stove 😡 you can use an arnica cream which you can get OTC.
I don’t think anyone is coming off aggressive, I think they’re just simply giving you advice, exactly like you asked. Sometimes urgent care won’t do anything, they’re saying go to the ER because you can get an antibiotic ointment to prevent infections once they do pop.
I poke little holes, like safety pin size, and let them drain and then put bandaids or some form of bandaging on them so they don't mess with them.
@beakymcspence thank u yeah I called his pediatrician they said wrap it with alovera
The pharmacy should have burn gauze which is moist with burn solution. Many places keep it behind the counter though. That’s what we used. I burned my fingers quite badly last summer around the camp fire.
@sandryane0317, we just wrapped my sons hand with non stick gauze pads and the bandage they use after they draw blood can’t think what it’s called... do that til the blisters pop and if you take him to the ER and they give you the cream apply it twice a day is what they told me and then continue that and wrapping his hand til it’s healed!
@sandryane0317, Burns happen love, but the blisters could pop on his hands even some bandaids will work to keep it clean.
Let's relax I ask for some advice since I felt Urgent Care didn't do a better job then they should have
Some of you are coming off very aggressive like you have never been through this with your children or something
@sandryane0317, Omg popping burn blisters is a huge no no and can cause infection. You should take your son to a clinic or ER so they can wrap it properly to prevent infection. Hands touch dirty things ❤️
@penelope127 I just said I know not to pop the blisters so there will be no infection
They should have given you a burn cream. Poor baby. I’d give Motrin. That HAS to hurt. Did they give you something to wrap it with?
Take him to the Er where a medical professional can give you the right medicine and instructions to treat this. Popping the blisters is only going to introduce infection.
OMG yea my husband kept insisting on popping them even the urgent care said no popping he isn't in any pain he is using his hand like normal but it's huge I don't like it
Take him to the ER they can’t do much but they will or should give you an antibiotic ointment to put on it once the blisters pop so it doesn’t get infected.. also don’t pop the blisters... my son had a burn like this from the batteries in our remote
I took him to urgent care and they said just wrapping it we can't pop it but it looks so bad
Holy cow, I would've taken my kid in to be seen. Just to make sure it wasn't serious and maybe get some tips on how to care for it.
I would take him to urgent care. Same thing happened to my son except he clamped his arm. That looks so painful. :(
Yesterday I went out with my boyfriend went to watch a movie, me and him don't live together yet. but point is yesterday when he was dropping me off his like sleep over at my house witch the mom and dad lives. I said no,
his response was why is everyone deciding or making choices for you and their going to do the same with the baby, when I know that's not true. what he thinks is that my mom tells me not to sleep over. So he left all mad. and I felt in my heart that he went on and cheated on me...
