So I need advice. My mom's birthday is today and I haven't talked to her in months. She one of the most difficult people to deal with. I'm wondering of I should go see her or just opt out? And if I do go I don't want to go by myself, I'm trying to get my SO to go but he doesn't want to go either. What should I or can I do?

@masseymomma16 yeah but I just hate going by myself. Like I feel like my SO should definitely go with me to support me. Like I know she makes him uncomfortable but I like I feel the same. Is it so wrong that I want him to go with me?
Just go. My thinking is one day she won’t be here for you to contemplate on going to see her or not. And you may one day regret not going when you could have. When you get there just say “I can’t stay long but I wanted to come wish you a happy birthday” if things get bad say it’s time to go!

I wouldn’t go if the energy is that bad between y’all. I would maybe call her and tell her happy birthday if it isn’t too much of a hassle to get through that and if it is, I would send her a text.

@qwiona does she know why your upset at her? If not maybe tell her. I wouldn't just not talk to her. If something happens to her you will have to live with forever
Go visit her. If things go south just say you have to go and leave.
Maybe just shoot her a text or call her and wish her happy birthday. If you don’t want to go, don’t. Don’t force yourself to do something you don’t want to do or that you’re uncomfortable with. If she makes it an issue or talks crap, ignore it.

@penelope127 it is. In all honesty, I'd rather just avoid the whole thing, but my conscience makes me feel bad.

@qwiona, no not wrong at all. He could help you get out of a bad situation, if it occurs. My husband and I have code words and signals! I would tell him how much more comfortable you’d feel and set a plan. Sounds kinda silly but it helps!
