Girl my husband is a social alcoholic until recently when he got his second dui. One word of advice I would give you, is don’t even try and fight him, he isn’t in a right state of mind to even think straight let alone try and argue. He wants to be a dumbass, let him be one. Now if and when (crossing my fingers it doesn’t happen) he gets into trouble again, maybe it will wake him up to realize that his childish acts don’t get him anywhere. I have ya Danny sleepless nights because my husband wants to be a drunk idiot, and then I would try to take his keys and that would cause a war. I finally stopped giving a fuck wether or not he drove. Because I’m not his mom, and he will see the damage he can cause by drinking and being irresponsible.

Don’t take him choosing alcohol and his brother over the kids tonight lightly, let him know that isn’t okay. But don’t argue you girl. It just ends bad. Many years I have lived with this, if you EVER need advice, I’m a message away girl. Don’t ever feel like him being a dumbass is your fault.

I can’t imagine the guilt I would feel knowing my SO was driving drunk if he was to hurt or kill someone. I would straight up tell him if he drives I’m calling the cops. So sorry you have this stress. It’s not fair to you and must be hard knowing someone you love is putting his life and the innocent life of others in danger.

@mrscecco316, Thanks girl! And Yeah, I told him I refuse to identify his dead body when he gets out of hand again. Because it happens. Every time. And I refuse to put my child at risk either. I’m not going to be at work wondering if she’s being cared for by her freaking father. I mean she has BAD asthma, I got home and her lungs sounded awful. No breathing treatment. It’s harvest, the air quality is horrible here right now with all the corn dust and my baby can’t breathe. I’m going to have a conversation with him tomorrow when he sobers up and then we’ll go from there. I’m not dealing with this shit again, I’m too old for this. If he wants to be a child and not care who he hurts. Fine. I refuse to be a part of it. His nephew is facing murder charges for driving while intoxicated and killing his best friend and girlfriend ffs! What more do you need to make you act right!? As If almost dying and going to jail wasn’t enough.

@lizabeth.1294, see that’s the sad part is that the reality of what can happen has to hit them in the face really hard sometimes for them to finally get it. My husband finally got his wake up call when he got a second dui and we didn’t have the 3,500$ laying around for a lawyer, when we finally had enough to pay the lawyer we had to chose between the light bill, and the last of what he needed for his lawyer. When he put us in such a financial distress, I have never seen a man cry more. When they are drunk they think they are Superman. Until they fuck up, and thats when he is gonna come crawling to you apologizing, all you got to say is “I told you so.”

The fact that he sets your daughters needs down because he is worried about alcohol first is a big issue. And I wouldn’t take that shit lightly, especially when it comes to her breathing and getting oxygen properly. I’m sorry you have to go through this shit. I know first hand the stress your under, maybe a big fuck up is what he needs to hit him upside the head. (Like maybe a pan, or a blunt object🙄) I’m crossing my fingers for you ❤️❤️

@mrscecco316, thank you so much! Some men are so exhausting. I just need to beat him over the head with a frying pan and then if he doesn’t figure it out I guess he can fuck up his life without me to fix it for him every time.

I just wish he’d wake up and realize he has 3 amazing kids and at the end of the day it will be them he’ll hurt.

@rowdy-vajazzy, he wasn’t driving, but his brother still was. If they hadn’t came back I was going to call my brother in laws brother who’s on patrol and let him learn his lesson the hard way....again.

@lizabeth.1294, I agree with @rowdy-vajazzy. I don’t think it matters if they eventually came back. They were on the road with other motorists highly intoxicated, and could have caused a dangerous situation. Those other drivers are someone’s mom, daughter, son, father, spouse, etc. How can anyone be okay with putting other innocent lives at risk? If I knew someone was shitfaced drunk and driving, you bet I would call the cops on them.
