@roaringmamabear wow thank you! Im gonna buy a few diff brands and see what i like best and i will def check out a ton of videos. I just hate the idea of spending $60+ a month and just throwing them out. I think ill love it once i get the hang of it. My LO is 10 mos but im expecting another in april so i figured i should start now and get knowledgeable about it all. Everyone has given such good tips. I THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!

I also love Fluffy Penguin for diapers but if you want to go the “China cheapie” route, there are also several Facebook co-ops that are great.
I used pockets for my first. Mostly Alva but some happy flute, kawaii, and sunbaby(?). I used any type of insert except microfiber because I can’t stand the texture of it. My first potty trained at 18 months.
For my second, I started with pockets, but then discovered Happy Flute AIO FLAPS. They wash and dry like a pocket but since the flaps are attached, they don’t have to be stuffed. I LOVE them. They are so simple to put on, wash, dry, and fold.
I have way more than I need at 50ish. I wash about once a week(5/6 days). We do use disposables at night but I could use my super heavy wetter happy flute flaps for overnight.
I have had no quality issues with the China cheapie versions and many people say that they perform better than the name brands (and in my opinion, they are a lot cuter).
You can make liners out of fleece that are cheap enough to throw away if you don’t want to wash the poop out of, but breastfed poop doesn’t need to be pre-rinsed. You can also get disposable liners too.
I cloth at home and out and about and even short trips. Longer trips I’ll bring disposables if I don’t have access to a washing machine.
Check out a couple videos on YouTube about getting them on well.
You don’t need a fancy detergent and regular tide (powder is most popular) is most recommended. Fluff Love University is a pretty good tool, but don’t feel bad if you don’t follow them to the letter.

For liners? I’ve used Grovia Bioliners. They weren’t too pricey on amazon and I think they’re very worth it. I have lalabye baby diapers. I like that they give me options where I can put the insert over the pocket and possibly reuse the shell. They’re definitely more expensive. I’ve heard great things about Alva but again I like the options I have with lalabye. I also like that the inserts snap into place so I don’t have to worry about them moving around.

@cass404.ch Ive only looked into a few brands the one that caught my eye was the bambino ones because they have a layer that wicks away the moisture like a disposable would.

Happybehinds.com is an awesome site as well! I'm planning on getting their monthly subscription box next payday!!! I have some nikis diaper brand that I got preloved that are awesome! And bumgenious as well (but those are more pricey) what kind of cloth are you thinking? I'm loving the pocket diapers myself!

@cjohnston, well that’s true just a lot of laundry. Lol. And I’ve always wondered what you do when you go out

I would suggest buying flushable liners. They make cleaning up poop a breeze. I didn’t start cloth diapering until my son had solid poop and even if the liner moves, it still gets most of it so I’m not spraying poop out of diapers all day.

I use Kawaii one-size pockets. Great quality (have gone through 3 kids and still good for the fourth), and a heck of a lot cheaper than name brands.

I LOVE cloth diapering. My favorite website is www.thefluffypenguin.com they keep their diapers pretty cheap. Alva is a good brand. Mama koala (you can get those off Amazon as a 6 pack) and they are pretty good too. If you have any questions let me know. When it comes to inserts I hate microfiber lol cotton hemp blends are good and bamboo. It's very expensive out right but if you have more kids then it's a great investment! You can also always look on your fb marketplace for used diapers for cheaper than new.
