Looking for advise..my baby boy is going to be 2 and he has speech delay....with that, his frustration levels sky rocket and his tantrums turn into him hitting himself. He runs into the wall or bangs his head to the floor or anything he can. He was doing this before and i read to ignore it and he stopped, but he doing it again. Ignoring it doesnt work this time around...i am truly out of ideas or things to do. Ive tried to sit him time out, telling him not to, giving him love, ignoring it....im desperate, its causing issues at his part time day care also.....TIA btw we are in the process of therapy, his eval is later this month, these things take months. Any ideas of home treatments or techniques.to help in the meantime

@kambam thx love, it def is cuz no matter what we are doing, even if its an activity for him. If he doesnt like something, he starts hitting himself.

@kambam i had the appt in July, no one had anything til sept. Nothing can be done til he has his hearing test....then eval, then wait for an opening. Ive donw this in Florida and now texas. Mission all around
Oh really? They are so impacted in my area. But we got speech right away. Only thing I'm on the waitlist for is child development therapy. They also told me to keep calling and checking my sons status for service. Only other services are out of pocket
@aylisf, find ways to play with water outside like a water table. Or sprinkler. Or even just make puddles he can jump in.
@kambam yes but between the months to get an eval appt, a hearing test, a spot opens for therapy...ive been att his for over 6 months. So sad that its so slow to help children
@db413 yes we have def been keeping him busy since he gets bored fast but in this tx heat, we def get creative on playtimes....i will def need to start talking more to him, he knows what im saying and just freaks out and hits himself whem he doesnt like what he hears
@aylisf, a lot of playing outside so he can express his energy in healthy ways rather than being harmful. I know it’s very easy to get upset with him for acting like this but try not to. Calm your head and talk to him calmly about what’s wrong.

Also look into sensory processing disorder. My nephew use to act the same way. He’s now in therapy and is doing better. Wouldn’t hurt to ask his dr about it.
Look into early intervention for speech help. They also offer behavior services and more.
I suggest getting him to his pedi and asking for a speech evaluation, with speech therapy, they can help him! All 4 of my kids have speech delays. The sooner you get him to therapy, the better.

son getting out of car seat
So a couple days ago my son started getting himself out of his car seat while we are on the road. He will be 2 years old May 27th. He pushes the chest clip all the way down and pulls his arms and shoulders out of the straps but is still buckled at the waist. Today he did it 4 times, we had to pull over every time.
