FTM! Wanting a glass of wine but breastfeeding , how to go about this?? I refuse to drink until I figure a safe way.

There is no need to pump and dump. My doctor said if you’re ok to drive, you’re ok to breast feed.

Just 1 or two drinks while breastfeeding and you should be fine. No need to pump and dump like pp said, but if you drink an entire bottle of wine, it definitely will make your milk boozy, haha.

Have a glass mama, you’ve earned that (and then some) I’m sure!

Depending on how much you plan on drinking you might need to pump to keep your supply up but I wouldn't suggest keeping the milk for feeding. Alcohol doesn't store in your milk, it goes into it just like it goes into your blood supply if that makes sense. So once you're sober enough to drive you can nurse.

You are safe to breast feed when drinking. The saying is “sober enough to drive, sober enough to breastfeed” and the only reason they say that is so you’re sober to care for your child. I researched this extensively because I was pumping for a micro preemie. You’d obliterate yourself before enough alcohol got into your breastmilk to affect your baby.
