You dont need to wait to drink and breastfeed. Its outdated information that needs to fuck off and die.

But you can totally pump some if you feel more comfortable that way! You can also feed baby before your drinks then wait an hour to feed again.

When I first had my girl, I pumped so I could have “clean” milk to feed her when I drank. Buttttt then I did my research and learned that if you’re okay to drive, you’re okay to breastfeed. Verrrrry little alcohol gets into the milk and even that takes awhile. And don’t waste your money on the alcohol test strips at Walmart or wherever. They will always say positive and they will freak you out 😂 But seriously, a few drinks here and there will be fine 😁

Depends on how much your intending on drinking. If your going to have a glass of wine or a beer it’s no issue. If your talking about having a 6 pack or getting drunk you pump and dump for 8- 12 hours after. At the hospital in the ER we have strips that can test breast milk we are obligated to call it in if the tests comes back over the legal limit and their attempting to feed. I’ve only ever seen that happen twice. The same type strips are sold at Toys R Us generally if your milk tests positive you should pump off and toss for 8-12 hours (That’s the recommendation) Only time we’ve ever had lots of drinks while I was feeding was my sisters wedding and I fed our daughter all her night feeds when we went home so like 4 bottles from our frozen stock. It’s whatever your comfortable with!

As many others said, if you’re ok to drive and aren’t drunk to the point you can’t care for your baby, you’re fine to feed. Many people recommend that you have a glass of wine as you feed or shortly after and it will metabolize by the time you feed again and will be through your system.

Target sells the test strips too.

Drink when you want. Just dont forget to pump and dumb. And you can always test like someone said.
