I don’t think teething causes that high of fevers but I’ve been wrong before

@kbbaybee16 actually that's a common misconception among people. Even pediatricians and doctors will tell you that when a child is teething there fever can get really high at any point because it's essentially the body fighting the teeth coming through so it doesn't matter whether they're running a 99 degree fever or higher it's just the fact that they can and more than likely will have a fever.

Recent research has determined that teething can cause a slight fever in babies but higher than 101 usually means infection of some sort.

@mommaofjais that's actually not completely true of all babies. 10% of babies will run higher fevers when they have teeth cutting through their gums even without any other infections or sickness. Especially if the child is older when the teeth start coming through.

Thank you though. My baby girl will be fine tomorrow. It takes normally a day and a half fighting the fevers and then she'll be fine.

I’m just telling you what I’ve read from the American Academy of Pediatrics. If this is normal for your child then okay but it’s unusual for a 103 temp to be caused solely from teething and I wouldn’t want people reading this and dismissing their child’s high fever.
