Which formula is “closest” to breastmilk? I exclusively pump but I’m getting tired of it. I used to pump about 8 times in a 24 hour period and now I do about 4-5 times. Supply is slowly dipping because I cut down. Went from about 1250ml daily to 730ml, and I plan to cut down a little more. It’s very time consuming and my 7 month old is very active so I wanna spend more time With him instead of a pump lol. I plan to supplement with formula. Perhaps 3-4 bottles breastmilk and 1-2 bottles formula. Little one drinks about 700+ ml a day so I know I won’t have enough milk when I cut down. I wanna find one that’s the closest and perhaps easiest on the tummy? Preferably without dairy?

There are some teas to help with breast feeding.

My daughter had cow milk protein allergy and sensitive tummy I was breastfeeding her and had her on this formula andshe did very good on it! But it is pricey and especially as they drink more it's about $20.00 for 400 grams some places do have it cheaper for example I noticed safeway has it for $16 something.

This is what our sons dietician had him on when we stopped putting breast milk into his feeding tube at around 13 months. It’s used for the dietary management of infants with a milk protein allergy. It’s commonly used for tube fed babies as it’s easier digested. It worked great but for a small can would be quite pricey, luckily because JJ has special needs and it was prescribed it was sent to us every month from the hospital and covered under AHS. I think a 500 gram container is about $29.99.

@boymom.16, thank you! I’m thinking I’ll have to mix some breast milk because from the sounds of it, formula tastes gross ??

My son is now on homo milk. We weaned from breastfeeding at 10 months and he took to Similac really well for a few months until we went to homo milk. I started by mixing breast milk and formula and slowly reduced the amount of breast milk

@leowifey, oh definitely! I was just hoping to get some ideas and go from there. I trust mamas more than google haha. I’m willing to pay higher cost !

I suggest doing your own research - it's tough for others to know what is lost important to you in your baby formula. For example, I use Plum Organics because it doesn't use corn syrup, is organic, and is very similar to breastmilk. But it's more expensive, and low cost may be important to you. There are also a LOT of confusing and sometimes conflicting studies about arsenic levels in formulas that you need to make an educated decision on.

All that to say that any responses you get will still need to be researched by you, and it may be less confusing to just start with what's most important to you and go from there.

Good luck!
