@iambecca, my epidural failed twice. Only times I ever got one. I’m done now lol. Took an hour for them to even get it in place. I’m still having side effects which pisses me off cause the dang thing didn’t work after an hour

@ambers14 maybe that is the case whichever it may be scared me enough to never have one done again

I say no epidural. Due to my experience with second born. Well epidural was GREAT for labor pains. But with everything I was told I didn't expect much pain besides maybe pressure and some burning when birthing the baby. Well I DID. And when delivery hit I felt like I was being gutted from the inside and panicked and pushed as hard as I could.

My son was strangled by the cord and came out not breathing and it took them little over a minute to revive him. So yes he survived. But never again will I get one after that. Didn't with my youngest and don't plan to with this baby coming either. Also didn't with my first either.

I didnt have any pain medication with the birth of my daughter. I didnt want any and went into it with that mind set. I took a birth class to help prepare me. I also told myself if I caved then I was not a failure. It all comes down to what u want personally. I really wanted an unmedicated birth. I had a lot of support which was def what I needed and focused on my breathing and getting thru the rise and fall of contractions. It wasn't bad until 8cm. I walked as much as i could which def helped. Laying in bed made my contractions worse and didnt help me progress so I was up and moving letting gravity do its thing

I agree with @mommy.to.sterling, I was the same no back pain I felt all the pushing no complications epidural to me was totally worth it I couldn’t take the pain I couldn’t breath when I had contractions at all

Epidural.... but expect back pain. I had back pain for a year after—- still worth it to me. I’m still going to get one again though.

Everyone seems to be pro epidural but I don’t want backpain for life just because of 1 day of bad pain. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I’m sure it’ll be horrible but it can’t be that bad considering they never used it back in the day and some how our grandmas survived. I’m leaning towards just pain meds through the IV but I’m thinking about waiting to figure it out until I start to feel contractions lol.

They both have their pros and cons. I fancy the epidural, although unlike some of the stories I've heard I got to feel the sensation of when to push and the baby coming out without the sense of crazy pain. It was very nice experience for me, I've always had a pretty bad back here and there so the epidural hasn't really had any effect on it that wasn't already there before imo. Just keep in mind all experiences are different and you may have this or that happen.
