I was home schooled i only went to school in 2nd grade 4th and 9th-12th... i loved it lol

I also had a sister to do it with, plus tons of cousins we were close to so we didnt miss out on not having friends bc we had a big family and i loved staying at home with my mom and grandmother. We'd get school work done fast so we could play outside and stuff lol

@beachcutie0808, that sounds awesome ! It sounds like it made it 100 times better having family and kids to play with while you was home . Do you think my son will have the same experience? So far he’s the only kid in his family who will be homeschooled, apparently it’s looked down upon like I’m doing something wrong . But I know I am doing something positive for him . I just want to do right by Ayden.

This is my 4th year homeschooling 3 boys. We are part of a MOMS Club and we do cubscouts and community volunteering to get some social interaction. The rest of our time is spent reading, studying, and working through our curriculum. I love having my boys home and I can gear their education to their abilities and interests.

@luv_2b_amomma as long as your mom who will be on top of it and follow the school curriculum you will do fine, i think its looked down bc some moms do it to take the lazy route and their kids do poorly. But you can like the other mom said join groups like cubscouts different things so he can have interactions with other children. It'll help his social skills

@yayacarrington, Wow ! 3 boys that sounds like you had your hands full . Was it easy for you ? How did the boys act when you started to introduce it to them ? I do learning time for 4 hours a day with my son I know it should be longer but I try to start small . He does very well with learning and sitting still but I wonder how it will be when he knows it’s school time . That’s great that you keep the boys busy and involved so they have a social life . I definitely want to get my son involved in things in the community with other kids because he has no friends . I definitely would like more information on how you do your homeschooling, and how you make it work for you and the boys etc . I am scared but I know I am making the right decision.

@beachcutie0808, I have seen some moms who do it the lazy way and it’s sad because it’s so many benefits to homeschooling and it shouldn’t go to waste . I am super pumped and scared about it but it shouldn’t be much of a difference from the everyday learning we already do at home . I am definitely going to look into clubs , sports , community events etc . Thank you ladies so much for all the help and support. I appreciate it and definitely feel much better with my decision.

@luv_2b_amomma I only do 4-5 hours of structured schooling a day. Elementary age children really don't need any more than that. It's a longer day in public school because they are coordinating a lot more children in a big school. I made a post about starting to homeschool. Let me find it so I can link it here.

@yayacarrington, ok so I am doing right with 4 hours . That good to hear , I thought I was slacking off on it but don’t want to lose his interest . Thank you so much for that post ! It’s filled with lots of information that is very helpful to me and my husband . I definitely will following it .

@luv_2b_amomma You're very welcome. I'm happy to help! I have found that when young children are pushed to do too much, they burn out much faster and earlier. Studies have shown that between 6-7 is the best time to start more structured education. Before that time, most learning should be play-based.
