Transitioning my 1.5yr old from the crib to the toddler bed is way more difficult than I thought it would be. My son was transitioned at the same age and it was literally like nothing changed. Any tips? We kinda waited until last minute and I regret it :( I'm having our new baby on Wednesday so keeping her in the crib is NOT an option.
@sherrynygirl we do have a strict routine, already. So I'm kinda wondering if the new bed is making it feel different and not her "routine." It took her about an hour to finally fall asleep. I had to out her back in bed about 4 times, let her cry for about 15min... Then I finally just sat there. She started dozing off, put her blanket over her face (as usual) so I got up. She woke up immediately, whined for a fee minutes, then gave up. She hasn't woken up since & that was at 9p. So, I'm hoping we are good 🤞
Nap time, tomorrow, will be another test!
@nschlegel ..try to put fav toys, blankets so she can get used to it and feel comfortable ,or an. Old trick lay her down with your shirt your scent too can ease her...try also white noise toddler videos certain ones help as well..we have a routine bath time maybe 20 min,, pajamas on, bottle /blanket, a pillow on my bed and he is usually asleep In min..has worked with all my 3 son's although,,my last son has more energy than I have ever seen in my life I can take him to the park at least 3 x a week 1 hr 30 min and he'll runnnnnn..and come home and still play in his play area..I wish I had his energy
@girlmomx5 she has a hippo one! I just haven't changed the batteries in it. She used to have it on every night, but a few months back, when the batteries died she didn't seem to care so I never fixed it. But I will tomorrow! Thank you!
@girlmomx5 I was afraid of doing that only because I don't want her to get used to it. Not to mention, when the new baby gets here i won't be able to lay down with her :/ my husband isn't always home by bedtime so it's not like I can make him do it either. I will try the music though!
I have my son in a toddler bed since 13 month's it's right near my bed.He jumped out of his crib backwards day of turning 13 month's so I bought him the Mickey mouse toddler bed has guard rails..he never gets out of it ..At times he'll take naps himself in it and usually at night he fall asleep on my bed and I will then put him in his bed...I started Mickey mouse cartoons maybe 10 Month's and on his 1 St bday we saw Mickey mouse in magic kingdom...make a routine try naps 1 St in it
@rocilove4 I'm not trying to have her in the crib though. Not to mention, attempting to find a used one then storing the toddler bed, isn't really an option. We don't have room.
I'm more so looking for advice on how to make the transition easy so I'm not listening to her scream for 30min or having to get up every 2min to put her back in her bed.
If I have to get up every 2min to so, because that's the only thing that works, then I will.
But as far as keeping her in a crib-i don't want to do that. I feel like it'll only get worse the longer we wait 🤷♀️
Maybe a use one my sister bought one at offer up for 25 bucks she just painted it gold
@newlyironman no... they're pricy for the amount of time we would use it. I mean, I don't want her in the crib past 2 anyway... we are using my son's previous toddler bed for her now.
@nschlegel, am sorry 😐 I don’t have any good advice since this is my first baby and his only 5 months
