Isn’t the risk of infection enough? Could you ask if you can move the appointment instead of canceling?

I wouldn’t risk it. Even if infection is “the only risk” that’s a pretty big risk and no reputable tattoo artist will touch you while pregnant

Hormones can effect the healing process and the quality of the tattoo. Your body has increased blood flow during pregnancy which is why your risk of infection is higher. I wouldn't take the chance personally.

Most tattoos artists won’t even touch you knowing you’re pregnant. If you explain it to them you can reschedule after you have your baby.

Any reputable place would move your deposit to another date, after baby! Not worth the risk “just an infection” can turn into something awful and truly effect baby.

A tattoo artist won’t even touch you while pregnant and if they do I would never get a tattoo from a place like that.

I don’t think any professional tattoo artist would tattoo a pregnant / breastfeeding woman

If this place will tattoo you while pregnant, you’re at the wrong parlor. End of story.

I had a tattoo done while breastfeeding. I was actually in the parlour pumping just before he inked me. (In the front waiting room area)

However, I had a tattoo before, they knew I wouldn't have a reaction to the ink, they were the ones that tattooed me previously. They also took extra precautions with me... I was the first for the day (after a super good cleaning session from the night before), they only use one time use parts, so I know it wasn't just wiped down quickly and reused.

I also made sure to tell them, and signed an extra document stating I know the risks, I will seek medical attention on my own and wave my liability to the store.

I wouldn't recommend doing this though without knowing that there are risks, and being pregnant I personally wouldn't even do it. I did it when my kiddo was about 10 months old, so if something were to happen and I'd have to not give her my milk (due to infection and meds) that I could switch to formula and/or use my saved up milk stash.

Luckily, because I have a good clean artist and a good relationship with him, he was willing to work on me.

I did this one when she was about 13 months old. I pumped till she was 14 months.

Again, especially if this is going to be your first. Don't. Just wait. You never know if you're going to have a reaction to the ink, or get infected. We specifically bought the medical tape for tattoos and made sure to keep the area extra clean (my husband got Fry, I have Leela) because it's a literal open wound. No grubby kid fingers ever touched it while uncovered. (Which it wasn't because of the tape)

I got a tattoo pregnant only it was VERY early pregnancy I didn’t even know I was pregnant yet but it didn’t heal right the ink didn’t stay and it was a small cover up but body just rejected the ink and it had bright colors🤷🏻‍♀️ I had the dollar sign on my ring finger and was supposed to be covered up by the sacred heart 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️
