Also if you’re going to let his hair grow I suggest taking him to a curly specialist like a deva salon. It’s expensive but they know curly hair and the specialist will help you out more when it comes to products.
Ya def use loc method but his hair is still fine so it may take time to figure out the right amount of oil to use, you def won’t need much for him tho. His hair is like how my youngest was when she was his age.
@mrssanderson, I added more to my comment about washing. How often do you wash his hair? The bald patch is normal for babies and likely not do to it being dry. Can you post a pic of his hair? I can def help.
@mimixtmn, he’s 2. He’s a wild sleeper so I don’t know if that’s part of the problem but he has a near bald spot in the back middle section from it being so dry 😩 I don’t want to cut his hair, but I’ve never dealt with curly hair before! I’m just learning how to take care of it. His texture came out of nowhere... he had super fine and thin hair then all of a sudden he has these tight curls
How old is the child? I use the loc method liquid oil condition. I spray their hair with water, coat in PURE oil (coconut, jojoba or argan) then I use cantu for kids detangler, comb it out and put some curl cream to keep the moisture my favs are cantu coconut curl cream & shea moisture curl enhancing smoothie. Also I do not wash their hair often, my youngest & oldest I wash every 2-3 weeks but wet my youngest in the shower and condition every 4 days, my oldest wets and conditions in the shower daily or every other day because he deals with his own and it makes it easier for him to comb. My middle child’s hair isn’t as dry so I wash hers weekly, wet and condition in shower twice a week.
Not sure your kids age, but what finally helped my hair: use shampoo plus conditioner, rinse, apply baby oil, apply conditioner, let stay in hair a few minutes, rinse, apply a tiny bit baby oil, apply a tiny bit conditioner. Towel dry only.
