So i have a wisdom tooth coming in and it’s starting to hurt on and off. Obviously can’t get it taken out because I’m pregnant. Anyone else have their wisdom teeth come in when pregnant? What did you use for the pain other then medicine.

There are local anesthetics that are safe during pregnancy - especially during 3rd trimester. I would have taken care of those ASAP

Yes, there’s plenty of women that would come into the office I worked at and get teeth taken out all the time!!

I had several teeth pulled while pregnant. Either way have it checked out. Those can cause a lot of pain later on

@patrycjalai, they have never bothered me or started coming in until about two weeks ago. And only one is coming in the rest aren’t.

@morganmommy79, i was at the dentist about a month or two ago and they had no concerns about them. They were coming in then. I only have one that has come through the rest haven’t and don’t feel like they are. This one has just recently started hurting yesterday

@lincolnsmommy18, I’m not comfortable with the idea of having them pulled while pregnant. Plus only one of them has come through the rest haven’t and it just recently started so it’s just barely through.

@sara_elizabeth2014, you don’t have much longer so you can definitely wait!

@lincolnsmommy18, which I’m thankful that they didn’t starting coming until recently! I definitely plan on waiting just wanted to see if anyone knew of a way to manage the pain. I hate taking medicine because it never works. Luckily it barely hurts but when it does i do feel it.

Switching warm and cold compress on the side where the tooth is coming in sometimes helps people, trying to put oral gel on a cotton swab and putting it on it for like 5 mins. It’s honestly what you feel comfortable doing! I wasn’t so lucky and had all 4 coming in at once. So they all got removed. Except for mine were impacted so they were cut out.

@lincolnsmommy18, so it’s normal for one to come in at a time. I always thought they came in all at once. What does compacted mean?

When they are coming in side ways and don’t come in normally. So it pushes against the other teeth causing pain. So rather than being able to pull them straight up you can’t because they are sideways and sometimes don’t even break skin so you have to have them cut out! & yes it’s normal. You may only get 1 wisdom tooth!! Some people don’t have any.

@lincolnsmommy18, well from previous X-rays it shows mine coming in at angle

lincolnsmommy18

Madyson King

The bottom two would have to be cut out. Rather than the top two you could pull. They can come in all different ways.

@sara_elizabeth2014, did it show only 1 wisdom tooth?

sara_elizabeth2014

Sara

@lincolnsmommy18, i remember seeing two on the bottom both at an angle but i can’t remember if there’s any on the top

lincolnsmommy18

Madyson King

@sara_elizabeth2014, yeah, you may only have two! It’s totally normal.

@sara_elizabeth2014, just like teething for babies, hurts coming in. Chew on something cold to help numb it like popsicles or frozen grapes. Apply ice to your cheeks/jaw. Sorry about your pain :(
