I am really considering the paragard non hormonal IUD, instead of getting my tubes tied... I was totally against all IUD's but I think I may give it a go. My only real concern is I have found I am allergic to a lot of metals and wondering how I can test if I am allergic to copper before I do that. I do not want a hormonal IUD and I want to still get my periods. But I am seriously afraid of putting something inside my body I am allergic too....
P.S. I am surely allergic to nickel and must use nickel free jewelry. I am reading now about this and idk it makes no sense

Talk to your doctor about your concerns. There are a couple different ways to test for metal allergies.

@ek620 Thank you. I will do that on Monday. I also was wondering though do they put it in right away or a while after delivery?? I am having a c section

@sagwaenglish Did you like it? I am not totally convinced to tie my tubes but I am pretty sure I don't want any more kids. I have depression and anxiety I want to start taking meds for, and I hoped for this to not mess with me too much emotionally and to still have normal periods.

@sagwaenglish I'm sorry that happened to you 😢 I already get a pretty good amount of yeast infections so that would not be good.
babymay2016·
@sagwaenglish It took six months for that to start happening though, or the whole time? I get them pretty frequently but usually just when I take an antibiotic I get one everyyy time
babymay2016·
@sagwaenglish or if I use a single scented tampon
babymay2016·
@sagwaenglish Damn, yeah that's gotta be super annoying 😥 I have really crampy periods but I get cramps for like a week before my period, and then when they stop I start and it lasts about 5-7 days heavy.
babymay2016·
@sagwaenglish Yeah that's what I am afraid of and why I am considering having my tubes tied. I already signed the papers so it can be done but I have 8 days to decide. I am only 23 but prettttty certain I don't want any more babies. Ever

I have had mine over a year now and I like it. I have week long periods but I did before so that was nothing new. I had the mirena after my first son and although it stopped my periods and me from getting pregnant the hormones were HORRIBLE! But I'm liking the paragard a lot more.

And I am having a c section so it would be soooo easy for them to just do it then. I would be terrified to ever go back in to have the procedure, as they can hit your bowel or other things.

Be careful on IUD....I got pregnant on skyla. It was perfectly placed and so was she 😂

The copper iud has given many women severe complications. Mainly being their scar tissue building up aroind the iud needing immediate removal. Be careful. The only way youll know is by having it put in and seeing. There isnt a piece of internet advice that would know how your body responds. If it makes you feel better. Ive tried the implanon when it came out and it destroyed me, after kids i decided to try its second version called the nexplanon (same hormones, only made insertion better and the rod is now able to be detected on xrays for emergency purposes) and i feel pretty good on it 😊 you never know how youll respond, especially after kids
babymay2016·
@vvrobinson Yeah I was thinking about the nexplanon also but I am not sure I want the hormones, and most things I read said it stops your period.

@babymay2016 it can. It might not. Depends if you bf or not. Right now i had what youd consider a period. I bloated for a day, mild cramps and spotted twice.it was over a day later. When i had the first implant i spotted sporadically every other day if not every day. It was bad

@vvrobinson I do plan on breastfeeding, but I also plan on going to work pretty soon, and they do make it near impossible to do so. I have to physically clock out and go home to breast feed or pump, and we do not even have a single break.. So there would be no time in which that would be possible every day.
