I had to give my baby a bottle with breast milk I manually pumped because she wouldn’t stay latched onto my boobs and wasn’t eating enough is it going to be hard to get her to latch on to my nipples after the bottle because I still want to breast feed but I also wanted to bottle feed when I leave out or whatever.
@msalohakitty
And that's understandable. It's very tempting to give the bottle and some babies can go back and forth very easily. Just try as long as you can to get her on the breast first. If she's getting very upset waiting, try giving her just a couple sips off the bottle to placate her and then put her on the breast.
try a different position. Try the other breast first. Try laying down. If you are engorged which you probably are at this point hand express or pump a little milk out first. Overly full breasts are harder to latch on to.
@fakoffyeh, that’s encouraging to know hopefully I can get my baby to stay latched on to my breast soon even though I gave her the bottle today
@mhbb3, I already have her a bottle today she was so hungry and wouldn’t stay latched on to my breast I was desperate to get her to eat☹️
Don't introduce a bottle for at least a month. You need to establish a good supply, and she needs to be good at latching. If you start with a bottle too early she can quit trying to latch because it's much easier to drink from a bottle to breast. Try laying on your side and nursing when she is hungry but not so hungry that she's screaming.
A lot of hospitals offer free support groups for breast feeding, lead by lactation consultants. You can call your hospital and see if that’s something offered.
@msalohakitty Call Your local WIC and tell them you need a regular for a couple weeks to work out the kinks. It's there mission to facilitate strong breast feeding relationships. Sometimes you gotta be a little pushy with them😉
