I feel so horrible 😭😭 today was my daughter’s first check up and was informed she lost 12 ounces. Her pediatrician said that I wasn’t making enough milk for her that’s why she lost 12 oz in 3 days 😢 he said I would have to give her formula and breast milk even though I want to exclusively breast feed her it’s become a challenge she leaves me all bruised and chapped just painful! 3 days old and I failed her already 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

Your pediatrician should no better than to put doubt in your head like that. It’s normal for babies to lose weight while your milk is coming in. Both of mine lost a whole pound before my milk came in.

I had my son 6 days ago he was 35 weeks and I had to supplement with formula since his sugars were dropping and he didn’t have a good latch.. the lactation consultant said it would be a couple weeks until he can fully get the latch down and for now I’m pumping as much as I can and formula feeding .. I’m also putting him on the breast so he keeps practicing the latch .. just supplement with formula and pump until your milk fully comes in .. at the hospital they put me to pump and I had nothing coming out not even a drop and now I’m getting 1-2oz from pumping each breast every 3 hours and feeding him with a bottle.. good luck mama🤞🏻 I know it’s hard when you want to exclusively breastfeed but sometimes things don’t work out and there’s bumps in the road .. don’t be so hard on yourself ..

When my son was first born I had a csection so my milk didn't come in for what seemed like forever! I met with a lactation consultant and before I gave him formula I would let him latch for as long as he would do, then offer a bottle of formula. Then I would pump for 15 minutes every 2 hours. 2 1/2 long weeks later I started producing enough for him. I ate like 3 bowls of oatmeal and a gallon of water a day too. And if it doesn't work for you just remember fed is best !

Just pump and supplement whatever you pump. Babies always lose weight in the first few weeks. My son lost a lot. Supplement formula only if you have to because that can hurt your milk supply.

My baby never latched well enough to get the milk he needed, so I ended up not producing enough. He lost a pound at his first check up. He was inconsolable because he was hungry, even though I was feeding him almost 24/7. We had to supplement with formula as well and it killed me. I wanted to exclusively breastfeed so badly. I blamed myself and cried over it for days. I hated when I had to make him a bottle. But it’s been almost three months now and I feel so much better. It helps that my baby is now excelling with growth and not the skeleton he used to be. Don’t feel bad about it, you’re definitely not alone. It’s not the end of the world. My mom keeps reminding me, they don’t drink just milk forever, you just have to get through it.

@rocilove4, it hurts so bad because at first I didn’t know how to latch her properly and now that I do I still have the wounds on my nipples so it hurts so bad when she latches and she cries and cries even after I give her both breasts like it isn’t enough milk even after I’ve given her both breasts

Nooooo if you want to just breastfeed exclusively why don’t you try feeding her more often so if you feed her every 2 hours try an hour in a half. The more I demand the more milk you’ll produce. drink plenty of fluids.
