So my biggest fear has come true. I'm having to have a c section. My daughter is transverse and my due date is this weekend. My doctor feels we are kinda in emergency mode because of possibility of cord prolapse if I go into labor at home. We talked about trying to force her down but shes been transverse basically the whole time except 3 weeks ago. So we dont think shell stay there. It could put her into distress. And not to mention I'm only 1cm and like 10% effaced at best since shes not been thinning me out. So they could move her and induce me but the induction would be extremely long. We risk her moving back into place during that time. So all scenarios have the possibility of an emergency c section. Or I just give in and schedule it. I called my husband in distress and we talked it through and decided it's best not to risk my health and hers. I scheduled the c section for Monday morning so my doctor can do it.
I'm so scared. I'm terrified of needles. Let alone surgery and being "cut open". I need to stop looking at it as terrifying and look at it as the moment I meet my daughter but I'm just so scared. I've never had any sort of procedure done before.
Any words of advice? Encouragement?
@justlynn I ended up delivering her vaginally! We came in for surgery and I asked for a scan because I couldn't feel her head. She was head down! She must have flipped just within those couple of days. Her head was still sideways tho like facing my hip so they literally manipulated her head with their fingers while I pushed so as not to use forceps or vacuum. So dont lose hope!
@justlynn oh wow!! Well surely since it happened with your first then it will happen again! I just hate that like I dont know what "normal" pregnancy is like and I wont know what L&D is like. Everyone talks about how you feel like you're walking around with a bowling ball between your legs and I've never gotten that feeling. Since she never really and truthfully dropped down in there I guess. My husband thinks I'm crazy since he says I'm getting to miss out on the pain of labor and delivery and dont have to worry about my vagina being ripped apart lol he doesnt understand
I will!!
@rachael.mei aww 😥 I'm worried my baby is gonna stay transversed he's been this way since the beginning and he wont turn. They say he has alot of room in there and he's comfy. So she checked on my stomach and she's like wow your baby is still transverse hopefully he flips head down by 34 weeks or they're gonna schedule me a c sec... But my son (2 year old ) was breech and decided to turn head down at 38 weeks.. I'm hoping it happens with this one to 😔😔😔 but anyways back to you, keep us updated once baby is here 😍😍😍
@justlynn well she was for the majority yes. Like even when I went to do 4D ultrasound back at 30weeks shes was transverse. Before they started cervical checks they thought she was transverse just from pushing on my stomach. They did cervical exams once those started and couldn't feel her head. I was given an ultrasound 2 weeks ago and she was head down surprisingly enough. But then again today she couldn't feel her head and went to check and shes again transverse. Seems like she likes this position 😥
@rachael.mei hi may I ask, has your baby been transverse all pregnancy? ..
Other than that I hope everything goes smooth for you.. don't over think things momma you'll be okay 😍
@mokai08 that's what I've heard is it's way better to at least have it scheduled because it's not so stressful with everyone running around and rushing. I just gotta get in that mindset. I just worry I'll be like faint from freaking out over what they're doing! And I dont wanna pass out and miss her birth
I hate needles and I didn't feel the spinal. I didn't feel anything after that and was joking around with the doctor. Relax and you should be fine. When it's planned it's sooooooo much smoother than many emergency ones.
@scidg3 I looked that up to make sure it's what I thought and that's how my doc said shell be doing it! She didnt classify it that way tho. But she said I wont have either of my arms strapped down. They will delay cord clamping like I asked. And will place her on my chest immediately for me to hold her. Then they said we go back to our room and heal there together instead of shipping me off somewhere. Unless of course anything went wrong where I need more medical assistance
Look up gentle C-section @rachael.mei I'm not sure if you'd be interested or if it's offered but maybe it would be something to look forward to during the tough time.
@jenzuniga I think more than anything I just need to get over the fear of the image of doctors standing over me in the scary scrubs and my husband being in the scrubs and knowing what's going on down below. If I can get over that ill be okay
@rachael.mei, let me know if you would like to chat! I’m here if you need me
I had a scheduled c section because my daughter was breeched. If you have any questions you can PM me. Don’t worry everything is gonna be like I scared myself for no reason lol
I had an emergency c-section 6wks ago today and I had a wonderful experience despite the emergent nature. The biggest thing to remember is that this is the best route for your little one and that your doctor knows what they are doing. I wish you the best and will pray for you!
@rachael.mei omg congrats on your baby girl 🖤🖤 I hope my baby turns the last few weeks too ...
So happy for you momma 🖤🖤
