So my son is 16 days old ( he came 23 days early) and for some reason he strains and grunts to poop even though it comes out. I’ve read that it’s normal but he was pooping just fine until the last two days. And even after he poops and farts, he still strains. I noticed today too that I can hear his belly gurgling. I’m assuming that means he’s gassy? Anyone know what I can give a two week old who is also a preemie, to relieve his problem?
Yeah me too I was so upset I would tell his dr I haven’t been eating anything new but I guess it just happens.
@rocilove4, I’ll definitely keep that in mind. I googled different things I could eat or drink to help his little tummy. Or even what to stay away from. I just hope it works. It’s just weird cause he was just fine for his first 14 days of life and then the last two days, it’s an issue. 😩😩
Maybe talk to your dr and see what they can give him but on the mean time if you’re breastfeeding drink plenty of cranberry juice it will help him it happened to my little one he was strained for about 4 days and I started drinking that and it helped sooo much his on the regular again
Nothing. We had this problem, my little boy was 10 weeks early and their digestive systems aren’t as strong as a term baby. My son strained that hard at times he gave himself a hernia! I was breastfeeding him too!
Honestly the best thing is to massage his tummy. They suggest cool boiled water when they’re a little older, but I definitely wouldn’t suggest it for a 2 week preemie.. there’s nothing you can do medically unfortunately, just massage his tummy gently when he’s straining
@rocilove4, and what’s messed up is I already have saved milk frozen 😩😩😩 idk what to do now lol
