I do not understand how they can put an income limit on a place. The place we're looking at has an gross annual income limit of 42,200 a year for a family of 6 and the rent is 785/mo but you also have to make 2.5x the rent in order to qualify. Makes no sense to me. I mean 785 is pretty expensive since right now were paying 500/mo. And this place is also in an area where the wages per hour start at $16. My fiance makes 14.75 an hour and works like 20 hours of overtime per week and we still feel like were constantly broke. We might not even qualify for this place because of how much he makes.

That is frustrating. 42,000 isn't much for a family of 6. I don't really understand why places do that. The apartment complex we live has a minimum amount of money you have to make a year but then if you make over a certain amount they make you pay more for your rent. I wonder why that place doesn't do that too.

@yvelid I understand requiring that you make a certain amout but what i don't understand is also putting a max income limit on it also. Likeyou have to make this magic number inorder to qualify. You cant make too much or too little. We're pushing the max income but it still seems like we're broke

@leahkay exactly. I dont get it. How the hell can we be sitting at the max income limit if not over and my fiances the only income for a family of 6. Like if they wanna do the max income limit they shpuldnt count overtime especially since they tax the shit out of it or they should do net income. Cuz even when my fiances gross check is 800-1000/ week we only see about 500-700. I mean they say we make all this money but where the hell is it cuz its not in my account state and federal take most of it

Everything these days goes off of gross income and they tax the shit out of it so you dont even see that money plus you have to pay insurace and all that other crap so you really only see about half of what you make. They say we make over $3000 a month but we still live paycheck to paycheck and def dont live a lavish lifestyle

@spookylyn but then why would they reqire you to also make LESS than a certain amout a year. Totally get them checking to make sure you make enough to be able to pay but the way this place has it set up is you have to make over 2000 a month but under 3500. Its just weird to me

@spookylyn more than likely but it seems like such a low number. Especially for a family of 6. It should be based off of net income not gross because supposedly we bring in about 3500 a month but we only see about 2000/mo after all the crap being taken out of his checks

@spookylyn that's what i say.. My fiance worls alot of overtime so we get raped in taxes every week plus hes got medial, dental, and vision and 401k coming out every week. He can work 60+ hours in a week and gross check can be over 1000 but we only see like 650

Some complexes are income restricted. Have to search for one that isn’t. Usually the case with places that have cheaper rent.

@ataraxia they're rent is pretty much the same as other places. Thats what boggles my mind. My 2 bedroom i have right now is 500 nothing included and that place is. 785 with heat and water so its actually more expensive than what i have now
