The definition of father is “a male parent”. A mother is not, can not, and will never be, a father. I don’t think anyone is trying to take anything away from single moms, but doing it alone doesn’t make you a dad. I admire single moms and think they are incredibly strong, but they are still moms

@mom13, I disagree.... the mother doesn’t act as both. If the mother is handling business on her own, just just a badass mother. She is never a father, in my opinion.

Not every woman is meant to be a mom..I was raised with both parent's in same household.My Father was our mother /father he took us to do our hair, shopping,spent time with us together and individually (I am one of three daughter's) my Mom's parent's died when she was 11 yrs old within 3 Month's of each other..so it has caused her to be a certain way and she didn't get help as a child or adult to deal with her issues..And ps I was a single mom yrs ago by choice..but,yes I wouldn't post a pic of me and my child on a father's day or father/child challenge....

@mommynmotion, I say a a woman isn’t a father and yes my children have a father figure. But I didn’t. And never once did I think of my mother as my father.... and I’m almost 100% that my brother didn’t think that way either.

It took two of us to make this baby that’s how God intended it for a very good reason and HE walked out so now here I am having to fit HIS role. Just like so many others out there and it can go either way I watch my boyfriend struggle everyday with his two daughters he got custody of bc the mom likes to party drink and do drugs and offers us NO help at all so when Mother’s Day roles around guess how awkward it is in my house hold... and then she calls to talk to them and you expect us to celebrate that??? one day she just dropped them off and never came back doesn’t call nothing. I watch my man turn into a little girl for those babies bc it’s something they need.

Well once I had a son who was abandoned because drugs are cooler than kids apparently ...I began to imagine all the sports I’ll have to learn to love and how to teach him to use his peepee and guess who has to give him the talk when he is older which I have no idea how a man thinks so I’ll probably mess it up... I’d say HELL to the mf YES I am taking on a mans role!!!! I can almost bet %99 who say a woman can’t have this role has a father figure in their child’s life.

It’s just kinda annoying when a mom posts herself when it’s something a father is being celebrated for. You don’t have to keep proving that your doing it all by yourself and don’t have a man help. Let the good fathers be celebrated. A mother is celebrated everyday in my opinion.

Pick up a dictionary and look up father. It’s a male parent, period. The absence of a male parent doesn’t magically transform you into one. By all means have your opinion on it, this is mine

@romeowhiskey, I’m not a single mother but yet I still fall under the husband and wife category you described. I protect, provide and manage for my family. But I’m not going to consider my self mom and dad.

I agree with @pumpernickel, by definition a father is a male parent. Yes a single mother takes the mother and father role but by definition she’s still just a mother. I do agree single mothers are incredibly strong doing it all.

@pettybetty a single mother has a lot of responsibility not that the mothers who have the father's in the picture dont but ones with out the father have times they have to act as both parents this is my opinion I never said that they weren't bad ass mom's but even mom's with daddy's in the pic are bad ass mom's because at times they deal with a grown as child they didn't even birth....
