I’m so frustrated with my daughters pediatrician
Here’s what she told me to do today
1. Take the paci away because it’s ruining her teeth , yet the dentist said it’s fine up till 2 years
2. Give her whole milk , even tho I told her every time P has whole milk she get a really bad diaper rash and it upsets her stomach. She wouldn’t do a blood test till I try to give her milk again for the next month and see how it goes
3. P is supposed to be gaining weight, she’s 21 lbs 8oz. I told her that P doesn’t wanna eat anything I tried everything. I told her she’ll eat any fast food if I’m out and about she said well keep giving her fast food then
@doctor.p, no way to test for the sensitivity as far as I know. Just a trial and error.
It’s tough when out and about, we don’t eat fast food so our options are very limited. I sometimes will bring a cooler if need be, but otherwise it’s things like those tuna pouches with crackers, peanut butter sandwiches, they even have hummus that doesn’t need refrigeration (although I’ve only found it once!). I’ll bring veggies and fruit and a knife. Apples and peanut butter.
@doctor.p, my sons dentist was never as concerned as his pediatrician was. I would go with the recommendations of the specialist in thy field..aka the dentist lol.
As for the milk, if she’s drinking almond milk and it’s not causing any issues then I wouldn’t really worry too much. You obviously know she has a sensitivity to milk so I would just keep doing what you’re doing. One of my good friends son can’t have milk, but he can tolerate some milk products.
I know that you’re frustrated, but you’re doing an amazing job.
@jack.ass, that’s how I feel. I feel like they keep brushing me off and making it seem like I’m not trying with her. Also what kinds of lunches would you recommend while we are out that could last for a couple hours being on the road ? And yeah I’m also gonna try the smoothies a couple of other moms also recommended that. And that’s what I told the pedi about the milk I said maybe she has some type of sensitivity is there a way we can find out she just kept demanding that it’s not the milk because she can eat milk products so that’s not the source of the rash or the upset stomach
@dee2115, yeah I understand about the paci I obviously don’t want her to have it forever. I was just saying the dentist wasn’t concerned because he said she’ll need braces anyways. We stopped formula and I’ve been giving her almond milk and she loves it and doesn’t cause her stomach issues but the pedi kept telling me to stop almond milk because she needs the fats in the whole milk.
@doctor.p, I have a milk sensitivity and not an allergy. I can eat milk products (yogurts, ice cream, cheese) but cannot drink straight milk. There’s so many levels.
@tyrellp, I took all the advice the pedi suggested and told her I would try what she suggested. I don’t have answers I was just listing what the dentist said he wasn’t worried about the paci because he said she’ll need braces anyways , and how she’s getting a rash so how is it not related to the one thing that she drinks every time and ends up with a rash? And I was just surprised she said to keep giving her fast food because usually doctors are against fast food , and honestly I don’t want my kid having a habit of eating unhealthy food. But thanks I’m gonna try the sweet potato and grilled cheese. I’m gonna try smoothies too
I feel like pediatricians are really lax on childhood nutrition which is such a shame because it plays a huge role in gut health through adulthood.
It’s more of a yup, yup and move along if it’s not a emergent circumstance. I told my pedi I was concerned that my kiddo didn’t seem to know how to poop. He quickly said I wasn’t strict enough potty training and moved on. I contacted our GI with the same concerns and it was a big red flag for them. Thanks pedi 😒
I would try a plant based milk, but it’s honestly not necessary if you can get a well balanced diet into her. They all go through picky eating stages, I’d try different avenues. No more fast food, pack lunches. Smoothies packed with fruits and veggies, vitamins, and get creative with food.
We have to be our child’s biggest advocates and researchers. Life has become all about the $$ and push patients thru quicker. If your gut says something is right or wrong- trust it and follow through.
@brittanystewart304, I give her almond milk now and she loves and hasn’t had any rash or stomach issues but the pedi kept saying there’s NO WAY she has an allergy
I slacked big time with ds and let him keep his paci until almost 3..I really don’t recommend it. It’s always better the sooner that you do it, and it’ll be easier on you.
Are you breastfeeding or doing formula too? You can always try almond or soy milk. Did you bring that up to the pediatrician?
For the eating..same. My ds won’t eat anything. Now that he’s 3 he’s finally starting to try new things. I know that can be frustrating 😞
Sounds like your pediatrician is just as frusterated as you are... You seem to have an answer for everything the pediatrician has suggested. Getting rid of the paci is a good idea, you can try different kind of milk and you can try alternatives to fast foods... Sweet potato fries, grill cheese with whole wheat bread there are endless options dont feel like your at your wits end. Hang in there dear
Have you tried soy milk with her?
My daughter can’t drink 2% or whole milk.
She’s been on soy milk since she was almost a year old.
@ravensupermom, I did, this is the second pediatrician we had 🤦🏽♀️
So question
Has anybody successfully not be able to give there seconds or third child like cookies fast food etc .
After seeing the effect after giving it to your your first children ?
For example: my son only drink chocolate milk :( he will drink white milk and cereal but never by it self ) with my daughter I’m trying to not give her NONE .
My son loves cookies , I’m trying to not give my daughter none !!

Her helmet she got so she can be safe (as she told me) when she rides her bike and scooter lol
Opinions on hungrier baby milk? My girl is drinking well over 30 oz in 24 hours. I tried her with water inbetween feeds but she just won't settle in till she has milk as she's hungry not thirsty. She's awake like 18 hours a day 😭
I know what I was meaning to ask y'all . Is it true that at the age of one your baby would have to switch to sippy cups because of their teeth rotting out?
The nurse told me I would have to stop Carmen from drinking out of bottles since she's has been switched to whole milk because it will start rotting out her teeth.🤔 Help me understand because either way wouldn't the whole milk still be in her mouth unless you brush her teeth ?
Dad's FB Video!!
Did anyone see that video a dad posted on his daughters FB page? He saw a post she made where she bashed her parents and cursed them, called them lazy and told them they should pay her for stuff she did around the house... So he called her out on it and put the video on her page!! Sorry if I missed a post already about this already, but I just saw the video and IT WAS AWESOME!!! Hahahhaa!
Definitely change her ped. I saw several with my daughter and now she only see one who really cares about her well being. Whole milk made my daughter constipated another one of my friends son couldn’t tolerate whole milk and he drinks goat milk, none of this is uncommon . I have learn is that a mother intuition is the best. If you think something is wrong or something should be changed then you do it. Or find someone else to test her. At the end of the day we could do our own research and we know our children. Dentist is the one taking care of teeth . So they would know.
