Depends, some hospitals won't let you leave unless you have an appointment for baby set up. I found some before through Google and reviews, saw which accepted my insurance, made calls, after my baby was born made the appointment. Luckily got my second with the same doctor as my first.

You can do either. But it’s better to do it before he’s born so his insurance can have the right pediatrician on his card.

They gave me my daughters doctor in the hospital and I love her then they just gave me the same for my son. They also made the appt.
