Can my baby still come out with birth defects when he's born even if the anatomy scan looked good nothing that they noticed. Or is there any rest you can take... I would like to be prepared before he's born

There's always that chance. My cousin tests all came back normal for her baby but she was born with down syndrome

@shay2beautiful with that scan around 20 weeks can they tell if anything was wrong with your baby or is it just basic information they find out and looks normal. Because I'm so worried I hope little man is healthy

@jenny955 Well if there was anything abnormal in any of the scans they would let you know. Like they told me that my son will have an extra finger on his left hand

My friends baby had a hole on his heart when it was born a couple of weeks ago. It didn’t show up on the anatomy scan. He’s going to be ok.

@shay2beautiful I only had a little sac of fluid in the plenta floating by him they said they arbt concerned because it was small. Idk what its called

@jenny955, yes anything can happen. You don’t really know for sure until you deliver and baby can be checked over.

Yup and just as PP stated sometimes they don't catch everything on the scans and I hope everything is okay

With a amniocentesis it’s 99% with results with just a chromosome abnormalities test which is less evasive the percentage depends on your genes & babys. But there is always a chance for other things that could arise.

My son was born with a extra finger it didn’t show on the ultrasound and I had an amino with this baby everything is normal I think we worry ourselves sick because we don’t know until the actual birth
