Extremely nervous about L&D the closer I get. And I have an induction date set for 8/23 at 1am since I'm still not progressing much on my own. So now I have more of a definitive date to count down to and stress out about instead of the whole it just happening randomly thing and me being able to just go with the flow.
Any advice on overcoming the fear of L&D? I've always been scared of it since I was a child for some reason. I guess just because women are always so quick to tell how horrible it all is. And then movies and TV always depict it as terrible too. And I'm a big baby about pain and needles. I literally nearly faint from blood draws. So I cant shake the feeling that this is going to be a nightmare and I really want to go into it not afraid.. 😔

I have a very low pain tolerance myself and I hate needles. I’m terrified about everything 😭😭 the main focus is getting to hold your baby at the end, but everything up to that point is scary. I’m a first time mom too.

@tmsbabygirl2011 yes!! I've been trying just to focus on that and think that anything that happens is only temporary and at the end I'll get to meet my daughter. Along with the fact that once I'm all good and healed up I will finally be able to feel like a human again lol and can roll over in bed or bend over to pick something up!

@lincolnsmommy18 omg yes I was so sick of hearing that and now that I'm in the final days everyone is like "oh are you miserable yet?" Or "you're about ready to pop that baby out huh?". I basically stay in the house and avoid people lol. Between telling me awful birth stories, making remarks on my pregnancy, or telling me what to do, I'm over it!

@mlmspm that's what I'm hoping for is that ill just be in the zone focusing on getting her here and focusing on getting through the pain that I wont even be so scared or anything and it will just click. I think it's just bad right now because I have time to sit and stress over it instead of just being thrown in and having to just handle it! But glad to hear even someone else who fears needles as bad as me was able to get through!

Just because somebody else has had a negative birth doesn't mean you will I mean there's nothing wrong with sharing birth experiences both my experience was not easy but that's just me my mom had easy pregnancies and easy labors she had all of us out within 10 minutes my sister basically fell out lol no matter what kind of birth you have induction C-sections or even natural on his own labor nothing ever goes as planned it could be easy or it could be hard don't be scared based on someone else's experience

@rachael.mei, I am right there with you lol. People will tell you all negative things first before they tell you the positive stuff. Or I love when someone asks you how you feel and you say tired or sore and their answer for it all is “oh just wait” or “it gets worse” 🤦🏼‍♀️

My experience has been, yes, of course it is painful but, it’s not as bad as many make it out to be. I also have trouble with needles and blood. I have passed out a few times during blood draws. But, when you’re in labor you’re sooo focused on getting through the contractions and seeing that precious little one that you probably won’t even notice the needles. I had gallstones when I was 19 & I honestly feel the pain from my gallbladder attacks was worse than labor. I have a pretty high pain tolerance though. I had to ask to be checked b/c I felt like I needed to push and the nurses couldn’t believe I was already 10 cm b/c I was sooo quiet. Hopefully everything will go well for you.

@lincolnsmommy18 yeah I literally want to wear a shirt telling people to stop telling me negative birth experiences for the next week. Like I even got a phone call at 8am this morning from my Godmother telling me I better go in there calm because her sister didnt and had to be put to sleep. I'm like wtf. I called my mom in distress over it and shes like omg no she was in there going nuts throwing things and freaking out so bad and you're not going to be like that so dont think that. And then just my moms experience having me wasnt good. My boss's experience having her kid wasnt good. Coworker's wasnt good. Like gosh. I get that it's not going to be this experience where I go in super calm with no pain and just push out a baby with no issue lol but just everything is overwhelming me and scaring me. I even told my mom at this point I want to run away and just keep the baby in there and never have her come out just to avoid it!

I’m right there with you.. I feel like everyone is the first to tell you how horrible it is.. I am sure it’s not all rainbow and butterflies but still. Im getting more nervous as the days pass.... Good luck to you!!! I’ll keep you in my thoughts & send positive vibes your way! Just remember you get to meet your baby in the end❤️
