Question.
When I found out I was pregnant my doctor immediately sent me for blood work and a dating ultrasound. My friend called and told her doctor she was pregnant and they told her to wait till she was like 9 or 10 weeks to be seen.
Is this common? Should she fight to be seen earlier?
I wasn't seen until 10 weeks, but I had the pregnancy confirmed at Interior Health... Just with their heavy duty pee tests though, no blood work.
@blessed2018w9, Yeah up here all we pay for really is prescriptions and dental, but between mine and hubs work coverage we don’t pay for prescriptions and only 20% dental.
Totally normal. There’s nothing they can do or monitor before 9-12 weeks
For me I saw the dr told him I took a few HPTs that were positive they did blood work to confirm and then a big blood panel. I was then also around 10 weeks sent a request for a dating ultrasound
Normal unless there is health issues or issues with pregnancies...
Yes I found out at 4 weeks and was told to wait toll I was about 10 weeks for a visit with my doctor
@blessed2018w9, Shots are free in Canada love we don’t have centres like that because is covered 🙊
Many doctors in Canada unless you have a history won’t see you till 10-12 weeks. My doctors only sees me sooner for bloodwork because of our history of miscarriages and being high risk. I wasn’t sent for HCG bloodwork every pregnancy only after we began having issues with miscarrying. Here they only do early ultrasounds if you don’t know your dates. If she wants bloodwork that badly tell her to head to a walk-in clinic they will usually do it.
I didn’t get seen until I was 8 weeks but that was because the doctors office I wanted to go to was giving me a hard time and wouldn’t see me so I switched to high risk and they seen me right away because I told them my pregnancy history, every doctors office is different, Some try to wait so they don’t have to do a vaginal ultrasound even if you do have history of miscarriages they still try to force you to wait like that one doctors office was doing to me.
@maddoxsmama, she can probably go to the clsc to get confirmation.
When I went to my Dr and told him I wanted a blood test to confirm, he gave me one. Then when they called with the results they told me not to book an appointment until I was 12 weeks, and then they sent me for my first ultrasound 2 weeks later.
@blessed2018w9, what’s a health department? I’m in Canada so maybe it’s called something else here
Most drs around me won’t see a patient until around 10 weeks either. Now I did have to go to the local health department and get confirmation to give the dr too
@blessed2018w9, yea she asked for blood work to confirm and the receptionist was like “don’t you believe the home tests”
I just thought the blood work part was usually done right away to confirm
My dr doesn't do anything until 9 or so wks
Yes. I was seen at 10wks for one pregnancy and I think 8wks for the other.
I just absolutely love some women on here! Some woman wants to write on another women's post telling her she shouldn't be having sex at all in the beginning of pregnancy. I didn't know she was her doctor. Then she wants to tell me that the first trimester is only 1-9 weeks pregnant. And she lost her baby at 4 weeks pregnant due to sex. Like sweetie that's your period starting!
This girl on my fb is 8 weeks pregnant with her first child and she said she felt the baby 🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️people these days 😂😂😂

Her helmet she got so she can be safe (as she told me) when she rides her bike and scooter lol
Touchy subject but I think my friend is lying about being pregnant
She says she was pregnant about 3 months ago after her and her boyfriend broke up, after negatives at all the doctors she apparently had an abortion, within a week she's apparently pregnant again, using the same pregnancy tests that no one has heard of or seen- she told me today they've told her she's 6 weeks along based on dates, but then telling the boyfriend that they were taking down where she wants to give birth etc etc whic...

This is what happens when a littles sister doesn't listen and goes a bit bridezilla. She wants all her sisters to wear the same thing for her wedding in a few weeks. I told her "I can wear something as similar as I can make it, but being pregnant I can't wear the same exact thing. It just won't work". Then she settled on a denim shirt dress. Cute, but wouldn't work on me normally, let alone pregnant (I'm pretty tall). She said she'd just femme a bigger size to fit over the tummy. I told her the ...
Same with my dr blood work and ultrasound straight way cause of my diabetes and me being over 40
