Idk how any one does a hospital birth laying down is so much more painful than squatting, i couldnt even lay down in the jacuzzi tub. I squatted on the floor and pushed him out in 2 or 3 pushes.

Child birth is different for everyone. What was easier for you, is the worst for someone else.

@mrschanandlerbong95 squatting is like scientifically proven better though its the natural thing your body does, gravity helps. Its harder to push laying down

@avianlouiebos, I’m an L&D nurse and do this for a living aside from being a mom and no that’s not correct at all. Squatting is not scientifically proven better, as there’s more then one position of a baby that would actually be IMPEDED by squatting. If you want to be technical the most natural position to give birth in is actually on all fours facing the floor or bed. Yes squatting works for some but not all.

Also if a cord happens to be around a baby’s neck the most dangerous position you could possibly be in is a squat.

I ended up laying sideways across the hospital bed. Didn't even make it to the delivery room lol

@beakymcspence well obviously im not talking about complications like damn my point is normal birth squatting is the natural position your body wants to go into. Same with pooping actually tbh its way easier to poop squatting than sitting on a toilet

@beakymcspence and ok for youre first comment your correct and again my point is laying on your back pushing is not a natural way to give birth

Generally when it’s actually push time they raise the head of the bed so you are technically near squat position, although many women prefer to lay on their side.
