So upset. My doc office never mentioned tdap booster so I mentioned it today. They said it's too late for me to get it so I'll get it upon discharge at the hospital. I said ok but then I wont be pregnant so it's not going to get to the baby...wont that affect her? They blew it off saying it should be fine and just have people get the booster who will be in close contact with her.
Am I worrying over nothing and this really isnt as big of a deal? I thought it was really important for babies so I've just been so upset that she could potentially be at risk now
@spookylyn I'm going to insist that he push them to get it but he basically like babies them and whatever they do or say is fine by him. I was shocked he even stood up for me when they were insinuating they should be allowed to stay at our house like days after we come home. I'm just not going to bank on them going and doing it even if we say its needed
@spookylyn thats one thing that worries me though is my in laws are trying to come visit and neither of them will get the booster. His mother is from Korea and isnt really into US customs. And then his sister would probably just say its an inconvenience to her and not get it. And hes hell bent on having them visit and wont fight them on it I'm sure. They wont be staying over night and will only be here 3 or 4 days...but still. And his mom is a smoker.
Anything I can make them do besides the booster to try to keep her safe?
@rachael.mei I got mine while pregnant but you can get it after birth. We had a measles outbreak so I got all shots needed while pregnant.
SO's family was salty I wasn't allowing visitor too lol
I have never gotten it while pregnant. My ob didn’t even offer during last pregnancy. She’s on the same page as me- it’s not tested on pregnant women so we shall hold off.
I posted this question a few days ago and lots of people said they got it while in the hospital but idk if they meant they got it after or before giving birth so I dont know how many people got it while still pregnant for it to get to the baby
Rach you could still get the shot. I think it takes about 2 weeks to be effective but if you go overdue baby might get some protection.
