@noenahiza, you can give ur baby whatever last name u want to weather its dads or not. He might not be on it as father if not present but u sure can married or not.! That’s babies dad

@luvmyboogie, if you are legally married even if the father isn’t there their name goes on the birth certificate automatically.

@noenahiza, I think you can put whatever name you want for the last name BUT if he isn’t there to sign legal obligation paperwork his name will not be on the BC so he’ll have to establish paternity with a DNA test and all that (I worked for an attorney in Bakersfield CA this was some of the things we did)

You can put whatever last name you want to on your baby. Long story short but I've been going through a divorce for 2 and a half years now. I got pregnant by my current bf 6 months in. My bf couldn't sign the birth certificate but I was able to use his last name. All here in SoCal in Oct of last year.

@noenahiza I've had to report a midwife I saw in my state because she was so damn judgement.

If anything it's paternity that can't be established until he's present.

I'm in California as well and have never heard such a thing.

I don’t think so my friend just had her baby & the dad past away & the baby has his dad last name so I don’t think that’s true ! Some ladies are just so rude & Not helpful at all !

@itty_bitty well i was told yesterday when i was registering at the hospital where ima deliver my baby that i will NOT be able to put my man's last name on my baby he will not be present (personal reason) we are not married. We have two kids already and with them i was able to he wasn't present. The lady said its a new law!!
