Can someone tell me what it is with toddlers and not their eating dinner?

I cook everything from scratch. Stuff she usually enjoys and now every night for the last few weeks it's a battle of wills, bribery, or threats to eat her food.

I refuse to believe my cooking is anything less than fantastic, so there's got to be something wrong with her!?

It is just a phase but don't give in to the bribery but also don't force them to eat all of it . But make it clear there's no other food options u till that's complete they can return to that meal later on if they are hungry you start giving options snacks and what not and you'll be regretting it.
My son does that rn and I'd feel bad now my rule is dot. Finish your meal no snack no juice just water till the meal is finished and it's always good I know he eats he's gotten much better and has even put on a little weight from not constantly snacking or practically skipping meals ( gold fish or apples don't count as dinner )

@mrskellaway yea I'm just so tired of the daily struggle. She'll eat but she's so picky all of a sudden it's unbelievable. The independence thing, that's about control?
I hope they grow out of it soon cause it really stresses me. GL with you LO.

I do feel a bit guilty because she's woke up with a stomach bug throwing up all night so it must have affected her eating, but this picky eating thing has been going on too long to be related the bug.

My dd went through this about a year ago it was so infuriating she barely ate anything for weeks! Then one day she just started eating again.. my doctor said its something to do with them asserting their independence. I feel you though I really do, you spend so much time cooking for them when they won't eat it its maddening! Fingers crossed she grows out of it soon x

@mamachey I don't allow snacks if she's not eating her main meal. But I do give juice at dinner. I'll keep it just water for now. Thanks .

I believe it's just a phase. My soon to be 1yr is doing the exact same with his baby food. He wont eat unless it's what me and my partner are eating.

I have no advice as Kylan eats everything and anything. But your last paragraph did make me giggle! 😂
