I packed a bag for myself and a bag for baby the first time, and didn't use hardly any of the stuff. This time I have one bag. I am taking a soft robe, two pairs of pajamas (the secret treasure brand from Walmart is my favorite and so comfy), two night gowns (same brand)... Some headbands, jolly ranchers, all my shower/bathroom stuff in little containers. I am bringing a nursing pillow, my favorite regular pillow, phone charger, and baby's coming home outfit and pacifiers (which my hospital does not provide). All fits in one bag this time except the two pillows! They should provide every thing baby needs while you are there, and whatever you need like.. Diapers, wipes, pads, underwear. It is also nice to have a comfy pair of socks and maybe some slippers! Also I had a c section and stayed for SIX DAYS. I am having another and expect to be there a few days at least, but if vaginal delivery you won't stay as long. A day or two. But one bag really is good enough. The first time I brought my own diapers and all that... They also gave me less free stuff.. Take advantage 😂
Shampoo, conditioner, body wash and louffa.. Toothbrush, toothpaste, headbands and hair ties. Comfy nightgown or pajamas. Breast pump if you have it. Chapstick. Charger. Pillow that you really like. Socks. Not even all this is necessary but I find it comforting to have a few items from home. Like your own blanket, maybe even a book for waiting before baby is born. Some headphones to listen to calming music. But after baby is born there is little time for anything but baby and sleep. I brought way too much. This is scheduled this time so I plan to go in at 7AM, have baby pretty quickly, and then stay for 3ish nights.
I had a vaginal delivery, didn't have stitches or tearing or anything, they made me stay for 24 hours anyway which I guess is just their protocol. Anyway, I didn't bring anything but a hairtie, deoderant, and a change of clothes. I didn't need anything else, they gave me everything I could've needed and more.
You should call your hospital you are delivering at and see what all they provide to you , mine provided everything I didn’t even use the stuff in both bags .. I stayed in the nursing gown cause I did skin to skin to the whole time , so I only really used my toothbrush brush going home outfit and baby outfit
I packed house shoes (didn’t wear—wore their socks so my stuff wouldn’t get messy), robe (wore when walked in halls ), hair supplies/presentable head wrap, Light make up , baby clothes (just for pictures), esssntial oils which were MOST essential! My lavender was a life saver
I’ve delivered at this hospital before with my other babies but i can never remember what to pack when it comes to hospital bags. They provide diapers and the bulb syringe and some post partum things from what i remember but i had a brain fart on what to pack for myself and baby (clothes wise) aside from going home outfit. I know with the hospitals monitor thing on the belly button stump onesies are kind of a no no but didn’t know if zip up sleepers were a good idea or not
I agree with the others. My other things hat aren’t necessary but I liked having was chapstick because it’s sooooo dry in there. As well as a bag of snacks. Lol our hospital has weird kitchen hours and I didn’t wanna pay the outrageous vending machine prices so we brought some of our own stuff and my husband and family also enjoyed it while I was in labor for 25 hours 😂
