@sunshine, that's what both my RE and OB told me... seeing OB tomorrow to confirm and I am never going back to that particular perintogist!!! I will find a new one! My OB also does extra ultrasounds and checks cervix, I don't get why I need two people doing this, especially someone I don't trust! I'm still angry ? about them trying to push an amnio on a perfectly healthy pregnancy. ?

I am 25 weeks with di/di twins and I've been told by my OB that they don't consider multiples high risk anymore unless there is a reason to be concerned. I had no issues with my first pregnancy and so far no issues with my twin pregnancy. ? my OB does do extra ultrasounds though and cervix checks starting at 18 weeks

I've always heard that twins are automatically high risk. Di/di twins are the least risky because they have their own of everything.

I'm just 12+3 but I will be seeing an MFM as soon as they can get me in. My last pregnancy ended in miscarriage (twins) and so I want to see them as much as possible...which is opposite of my normal personality(I had my first at home with a midwife and absolutely no extras/interventions.)

I'm high risk due to having a bleeding disorder and twins but I don't see a MFM or other high risk drs. I am being overseen by a hematologist. My OB is insanely experienced with twins and my bleeding disorder so I feel completely safe staying with him and having my blood levels overlooked by a hematologist.

I'm considered high risk, I have chronic high BP and my cervix is thinning. It's at 1cm now. I have my regular OB and a specialist as well.

I'm considered high risk because of my mo/di pregnancy.

I've been getting ultrasounds every 2 weeks since 16 weeks, met with the Peri 3x but my doc is pretty experienced with twin pregnancies and thankfully (knock on wood), my pregnancy has been very uneventful, so I haven't seen the Peri since 20 weeks. Which is also fine because his bedside manner was lacking!

At 32 weeks they started me at 2x weekly NST's and alternating weekly doc and ultrasound appts. The week I get the u/s, I don't see my doc and the week I see my doc, I don't get the u/s. But my doctor checks the babies really quick on her portable machine each time I see her. The hospital is 40 minutes away so going all the time is tough, but I love seeing my babies and knowing that my team is taking excellent care of all of us.

The term "high risk" can be stressful, but that doesn't mean you'll have a complicated pregnancy! The odds are still very much in your favor that you'll have an uneventful 9 months and some healthy babes at the end.

I'm considered high risk for my di/di b/g twins. Had regular ob apts every 2 weeks, and ultrasounds every 3 weeks throughout first + second trimester.

Once I hit my third trimester OB apts weekly, and ultrasounds every 2 weeks.

Now, at 34 weeks started having reg OB apts +ultrasounds +nst every week.

Going to the doctor this frequently - while it's a drag is, absolutely reassuring that things are on track.

My ob and peri are both older but I'm also having modi 2 sacs 1 placenta so that in itself is risky from what I've read

I think my twins are di/di ? They each have their own placenta and amniotic sac. Today we got a hint at one being a girl and one boy....I'm going to my OB on Thursday and will ask... I really think they were trying to just make $$ off my insurance. The only reason my OB sent me there was because I wanted to do the NT scan and the girl that works in his office was on vacation this week. I think they took advantage and made me do all this extra stuff for no reason. Seriously the genetic counselor was an idiot. I knew more about what she was talking about than she did. After two years of fertility treatments you learn a lot about genetics!

@ashley she was on the younger side of what I would consider a "wise" doctor, maybe early 40's which means she's been practicing on her own less then 10 years? She even "guessed" and wrote on my chart that I had pre-hypertension before pregnancy.... she had never seen me before . I think she was a plain b**** ! I came home crying to my DH.... I might also be a bit over sensitive from hormones but I'm never seeing that doctor again!

I'm high risk for various reasons, twins are always considered high risk. But due to age (38), history of preeclampsia in previous pregnancies (4) and history of GD last pregnancy I'm seen bi weekly, once a month with my perinatologist and once a month with my OB. Currently 25 weeks, at 28 will start seeing someone weekly.

Oh and I'm di/di no high risks other than keeping a close eye on baby girl B's growth

Do you have a younger Dr? Less experienced in twins maybe? My OB only sent me to perinatal after I had one of my girls growth reach 20% less than her sister's growth at 20 weeks. They never pushed for extra testing except when I saw a different (much younger) OB when mine was not there. If you're in good health and your tests have come back negative there is no reason for all of the extra testing. I'm 26 weeks tomorrow and see my OB every 2 weeks as of next week for routine check up (just heart beats , belly measurements, urine specimen, general stuff) and perinatal every 3-4 weeks as of last week for sonos. If their growth was the same I would just do a sono every two weeks at the OB.

Hope this helps a little

Once I reach 28 weeks I will be seeing perinatologist weekly and ob every 2 weeks

Depending on the type of twins you are having you need more visits I'm having mo/di and see my perinatologist every 2 weeks and ob every 3 weeks due to risks of ttts, suirg and a few other things that are common with modi from my understanding didi have the least risks and momo the highest. I did all those screenings because twins are at risk for many things singletons are not.

@snunley sounds like it's really common to get GD , hoping that you are able to overcome it without any issues.... sounds like it's not really a big deal for you so hoping it stays that way for u and babies ? ?

I feel like the perinatal was trying to sell me on extra office visits. She said I have to see her every two weeks on top of seeing my OB every two weeks... sounds like total nonsense to me... did you guys have to go through this extra appointments ??? I went to them only for an NT scan and they were trying to sell me on everything under the sun including an Amnio test!!! After perfect NT scan, perfect NIPT and perfect full blown genetic testing showing I'm not a carrier of anything. Ugh ? they even tried to tell me that I need to test my husband for genetics "just in case" , just in case for what ??? So they can make extra money?

I have had this conversation with a few ppl plus my dr. He said i was high risk due to twins but never sent me to a perinatal dr. Now that i have gestational diabetes i see they have scheduled me with one july 26 without notifying me. I will be 32 weeks when i go.

Twins are always high risk because of preterm delivery, don't worry it's just a word
