Prior to getting pregnant I was diagnosed with acid reflux (gerd) and put on protonix. When I became pregnant I stopped this medication. I'm am struggling something awful with this pregnancy. Tums and rolaids don't even touch the acid I'm having. I've changed my diet and still no relief. The acid keeps me up all night. I've made adjustments to my bed, raised my pillows, etc. This is my 3rd pregnancy and not the typical pregnancy acid reflux. Anyone else have this issue? Did your doctor prescribe you medication?
I had very bad reflux before pregnancy and needed to get scoped. It’s so bad my esophagus and stomach was inflamed. It’s worse now that I’m pregnant. I take nexium twice a day. Both my OB and GI doc approved. Change your diet even more, no eating 3 hours before bed and keep your head elevated.
I’ve had acid reflux for years and it has been so much worse this pregnancy. I can’t take certain medications but I had taken prilosec prescribed before it was over the counter. I haven’t started it again yet but my midwife said it was safe to use long term in pregnancy, and to take it in the morning then a couple tums before you lay down to go to sleep.
I’ve had terrible acid reflux during my pregnancy...to the point of getting what looked like burns in the back of my throat and waking up multiple times per night choking. My doctor started me on Zantac once a day, then Zantac twice per day and when that wasn’t working Prilosec once per day and Zantac once per day. I’m now down to just Prilosec as I think it’s gotten a little better as my belly has dropped down a bit (I’m 37 weeks with twins)...I think they should be able to give you something. I got a wedge pillow too which really helps
I don't have GERD but I do get acid reflux now and then really bad, I don't take meds for it although I should but what I usually do is drink ginger ale and use a heating pad for the pain... Doesn't seem like it would work but it does for me. I also increased my water intake and milk intake too and that's helped a lot. Any time I eat something that could potentially give me acid reflux, I make sure to drink like 2 full cups of water and then have some milk with something later
