My SO is so against front facing but my son gets so uncomfortable and kicks and screams until he falls asleep. He’s 1 1/2 but he’s 36in. When can you front face legally? (No negative comments please)

What age do you start front facing your child? Looking for personal opinions, I've done my research and personally believe it's best to keep my son rear facing for awhile longer. His legs aren't bent up or anything either. My bf and his mom tried to tell me I should have my son front facing, and it irritates me because it's my decision, and it's safer to keep him rear facing anyway.

Question mamas...my baby has eczema on his forehead and cheeks and I already brought him to the pediatrician and they said they don’t want to prescribe anything for it because it’s on his face and they don’t want to put any prescription cream on his face so they said to use a cream not lotion cause cream would moisturize more so I have been using Aveeno Baby moisturizing cream on him daily and it hasn’t helped! What else can I try? It’s itchy cause he’s rubbing it with his hand on his forehead and he’s cranky.
OT. rant! forward facing early ok, so in my birth month forum (October 2012) someone posted a picture of their lo riding in the car in a forward facing seat! what???? it baffles me when parents do this. I'm not trying to offend anyone.. but why do ppl do this?? the oldest baby in our birth month is 9 months, she was 3 months premature. but even at 9 months I wouldn't have my child forward facing.

Honestly my son dislikes rear facing too but I'm too terrified to front face him. Have you tried distracting him while driving so he won't get upset? I usually have to sing or play a video for my son

Depends on the state. It is safest until at least 2. My daughter is 37.5 inches and she's still comfy rear facing. I have a mirror so she can see me and vice versa. I let her take her shoes off and put them on the seat next to us til we get to where were going and she usually has a toy, snack or her tablet to distract her on longer rides.

The laws vary from state to state. It’s recommended by the cdc until age 2.

What car seat is he in now? Perhaps a different seat would suit him better. Sorry he’s unhappy. My son fits his but he hates being restricted until he turned 2. Good luck.

Most states require rear facing until 2 (continuing until maxing out the seat height or weight recommendations is best). I know my daughter enjoys the ride more if we mount a mirror for her to see us up front. You could also look into the Graco Extend2Fit which has an extension panel that pulls out to give about 5 more inches of leg room.

@oceanbabe424, you can inform without being negative though. If she were to have more kids you’d only be doing them a favor by kindly informing their mom what she’s doing is faaaaaar from ok or safe.

@ljsmommy22, he’s hard of hearing so he can’t really hear me and that’s one reason why I’d like to have him forward facing because we have a tv in the car and it would keep him happy and occupied
