I sorta agree with @bigmama18md I don't believe in allowance, or getting paid to do regular chores that should be done regardless, after all adults don't get paid to do their dishes or mop their floors, but I do believe they should get an opportunity to make money if they go above and beyond, like help with yard work, or help clean out a garage etc

Rewarding for good behavior and following directions is fine, but in the real world it's benefit to yourself to clean Up.
