My kids aren’t in school yet, but I have a question. I’ve been wondering why parents will drive their kids to the school bus stop instead of driving them to school. I’ve seen cars lined up at the end of my street just to wait on the bus. I don’t get it, so enlighten me.

My husband would drive our son to the bus because school was about 10 minutes south and he worked 10 minutes north. So that's an extra 20 minutes he saved before work. That being said my husband was still a tad bit late(5min) for work everyday which his boss would always give him grief about because he drove him to the bus. We lived on a gravel road in the country with no lights and most mornings it was dark when he had to catch the bus and he wouldn't allow us to walk about 3 farms up. We lived in a small town of 4500 people and his job was the only good place to work that made more then minimum wage.

@itslinny, that’s not even what she was asking . She basically asked if you’ could get out in your car and drive to the bus stop why not drive all the way to school

@olivbee, laziness is my honest opinion about it, but I wanted to still ask.

@x_storm, I agree. I plan to drop off and pick my kids up. My son starts school next year, so I’ll be a school mom soon.

Could just be laziness. I’ve been there, even when I knew I could walk & make it to the stop on time I’d sometimes still drive just because I didn’t feel like getting dressed, getting my baby dressed, just to walk up the street to the bus stop & I didn’t drive her all the way to school because morning drop off is a good 20-30 minute process of just sitting there waiting in a long line of cars until you’re at the front doors.
@thathusie I drive my girls to school and pick them up. Everyone on their bus has parents waiting in cars for the bus which I told my husband is stupid. Smh

@x_storm, 😂😂😂😂 I knew I wasn’t the only one that didn’t understand. It looks crazy to me every morning. My street isn’t that long, but parents are literally driving to the end of the street to wait for the bus, making a u-turn, and pulling back into their yard.

Until 8th grade my bus stop was right in front of our house, so we'd wait inside until the bus was coming. By highschool we'd walk the five minutes to the stop, but sometimes if it was raining pretty hard or super cold some of the parents would bring the kids to the bus stop. And since our bus driver had a random habit of not showing up at all, one of the parent usually waited at home until we left, just in case we needed a ride to school.
I think even if I'm able to drive him I'd have him take the bus. I feel that knowing there's a set time and someone who won't take his excuses waiting on him, he'd be less likely to waste time, whereas with mom or dad he may try to. But who knows, maybe he'll love school, and hate being late for things like I do. Plus riding the bus was always fun, as I had friends to talk to.
I wonder this too. 😂

@olivbee, I understand having to go to work and driving them to the bus stop. I mean other circumstances.

@newlywedmama21, @itslinny, @mumma_of2, thanks for your responses. I guess I’m curious that if you have a vehicle and time to sit and wait for a bus, why not just drive your child to school. I mean, if it’s a safety thing then why should you only want to see you kids safely get on and off the bus instead of wanting to see them safely make it to school and avoid them getting harmed in any way on the bus? I know since I haven’t experienced it that I’m on the outside looking in, but I don’t think I’ll ever allow my kids ride a school bus. As long as I have a vehicle and able bodied then I’m taking them myself. If I’m working when that time comes, I’ll look for a job that fits my schedule. I’ll use that as more time to bond with my kids.

@thathusie Yes it is a personal decision for the most part (there are definitely exceptions). Also, my bus stop used to be a quarter mile down a road where the speed limit is 55, but the average speed is 65. I used to drive my son and the neighbor kids there every day. I'll be damned if my child is going to walk that far on a road like that. It took two years for me to get a stop at my house.

I drove my daughter to the bus stop because it was over a quarter mile away & sometimes I wasn’t sure I’d make it on time if we walked. Some of the other moms that drove their kids to our stop went straight to work afterwards.

Maybe they don't want their kids to be at the bus stop by themselves? A lot of creeps out there that could snatch them. Luckily the bus comes in front of our house

What she said ^^^^....and also my street gets pretty dark so if it's early in the morning I would rather sit in the safety of my car. But now I drive my kids because their new school doesn't have buses

@sassybitch, so it’s a personal preference for parents to do that? I’m legitimately curious.

I tried taking my son to and from school. Dropping him off was usually pretty simple, but picking up was another story. In order to be in the front of the pick up line, I would have to be at the school and hour before dismissal. If I showed up at dismissal, I would still have to wait at least an hour before I got through the line. Honestly, I have better things to do than sit in my car.

Transgender children So I just learned that in my kids school district (my kids aren't in school yet my oldest will be starting kindergarten next September) there are twin boys who identify as girls. They are 5 years old. What's your opinions on this matter given they are 5!!! I don't believe that at that age they really understand the whole thing. So the entire school had to take a course on how to handle transgender children. For example they can't say girls go this or boys do that. What are your thoughts on the matter? Do u think the parents are behind this? Idk because I haven't met the parents or children. I just think at 5 it's very young for children to really understand. What do u ladies think?
I’ve contemplated on breaking my husbands Xbox a few times in my head. maybe I can blame it on the kids lol

Has anyone dealt with bullying towards their child? My son is in SK and he takes the bus to school everyday. He was at this one bus stop and all the older kids and some kids his age would push him to get on top the bus before him. So I moved his stop last month and now that he’s the second stop the kids that pushed him won’t let him sit in his seat and tell him to get away. I’ve talked to the school many many times and they say they talk to the students but I don’t think they really care. Seeing my sons face sad breaks my heart because me and my husband teach him to be kind to others. (I’m balling my eyes out even writing this) Is there any advise you ladies can give ? Please ☹ 😭

School fees Having an intense debate on Facebook about school fees for public school. I'm in the "stop whining about school fees and stop having kids if you can't afford them" camp and there is the other camp of "free school is a constitutional right! It's bull s*** we have to pay anything at all".

I’ve also wondered that but in my town you can apply to certain schools that are farther away but better so sometimes the bus stops are so far from home or across a busy road that parents either have to drive their kids to the stop or have to drive them to school and the schools are even farther away. Still if I had to go through all that trouble I would probably just drive to the school
