I wanted to ask a question regarding pregnancy Medicaid. Any rude comments will be blocked. So I called today and they said all the paper work can take 30 days to process. I counted and that would be August 30th and I'll be 17 weeks. I know the ob dont normally take women after 20 weeks. My social service building is so slow, so I have been going to the clinic one a month for checkups. I am worried I won't get an ob in time. Any advice or did anyone have trouble with the Medicaid, I dont know what to do?
@morganv716, oh sorry to hear that. Having Medicaid can be difficult because there seems to always be a problem. At least when I had it🤷🏼♀️
@coralinesmommy I already tried and they said they cant do anything for me that I would have to pay the full amount before being seen. I'm so fed up with dealing with this its ridiculous
Call your doctor’s office and tell them what’s going on. I was in the same situation my last pregnancy. They said they can access your coverage before you even get the card/paperwork in the mail.
Is there a Medicaid office inside your local dss office? they process the paperwork that day and approve it.
@mommytotheo Oh I didnt know you could do that. If I applied through the place , do you think I can still check online
@morganv716 I applied online so I just kept checking and it said approved
@mommytotheo how do you know when you are approved, will something come in the mail ?
Mine took me 2 months to get my card! but I called the hospital about it and they let me go to all my appointments still and sent me the bills, when I got the card I called the number on the Bill's gave them my info and that was that! Call them and see if they will help you hun! Best of luck!
@morganv716 normally the longest part is waiting for your card in the mail. I got approved fast but it took like 30 days for the card to come
Medicaid back dates 3 months from approval. So you can see an ob and just tell them insurance is pending. They will then charge you and you just submit the bill to Medicaid and they will pay it. That’s what I did when I was pregnant with my oldest.
And I agree with @alyboo102293, when I was waiting for my stuff from Medicaid I was in the hospital and I told them I was waiting for it so when I finally did get my Medicaid they sent everything too them!
@morganv716, for me you get a Medicaid card plus whatever you choose as your insurance... I chose nj horizon. So when I do have to go to places that ask for Medicaid they ask for my Medicaid card plus my horizon card! That’s what I meant like choosing which insurance you want lol
Typically Medicaid will back up to the day you applied so if you get care before then just would send any bills to them after , they backed mine all the way to feb 6th before I even ovulated lol 😂 I would see if you will be eligible for that.
@mommytotheo thank you, yeah they wont do that here which sucks, I just want to get everything done for and checked the right way by an OB.
@leoshearnold I might do that bc I dont want them being the reason I couldnt go be seen
@jerseymomx2 they never ask a provider for mine just address and work and all that stuff.
It can take a while. I know here they will see you then back bill insurance for the appointments
@leoshearnold oh okay well hopefully I hear something soon so I can start going to an ob. It makes me nervous not being able to go to a normal ob an get all the tests and stuff done I need
Call and bug them they will be like won’t she just stop calling lol and pass it through
When I applied for Medicaid I received my paperwork in the mail too choose a provider and then got my card all took about 2 weeks! As long as you have everything they ask for the first time it should go quick!
@reanasanders26 I have been so worried I will be denied for no reason, I filled everything out though.
Oh yea of course you will , i actually applied through my hospital because my son had a nice bill cause my moms insurance didn’t cover “ grandkids” so I was forced to switch but still went fast
@morganv716, yes it’s take forever. Don’t worry they gone approve you cause you pregnant it’s just take time that’s all
@reanasanders26 yeah Medicaid takes forever I turned everything in on July 19th and called today and still haven heard anything. I'm worried about it
Yes i had probably i didn’t see an OB until i was 20 weeks and mines took me cause i told them i was waiting for Medicaid honestly you should be find .
@leoshearnold oh wow hopefully I will know soon, I just had one last paper to turn in and I turned it in on July 19th, so I feel like i should hear something soon.
Just make sure when you go to apply you have all the documents so you don’t have to go back-and-forth
