With my daughter I didn't get a positive till I was 8 almost 9 weeks and with my son I got a positive before implamtation had occurred (it's not impossible just highly rare) with this baby I was already over a month late for my period I thought I just missed it because of stress
I got a very faint positive 8 days before my period was due. And a strong positive 2 days before. But all women are different so if you are getting negatives (or don’t have a lot of tests you want to burn through) I would definitely recommend until waiting after your missed period. I definitely feel as if some get lines later than others due to when a person ovulates and how long their cycle is though.
I did IVF so everything was timed and planned. I was required to take a blood test around 4 weeks. Pregnancy test measures the HCG hormone. The hormone needs to be above 5 (unsure of unit of measurement). So for me at 4 weeks I took a home pregnancy test for my own information prior to my blood test. My home urine test gave me a faint positive. My blood results measured my HCG at 66.
@mom13, did you think anything was wrong lol ? that why i was saying how late can you get a positive im a month late in the middle of the night i saw a speck of blood ive been very tired and pee alot
Nope just thought I was stressed wasn't till I threw up stomach acid and red dye 40 did it dawn on me that I might be pregnant i didn't think it would happen that quick cuz hubby and I tried for our second for 6 yes before we had him he's now 2
Do speak to your OB and family doctor I had one friend who took at home pregnancy test they were negative they did the blood work it was positive and they did an ultrasound the same day to confirm.... Then I had another who thought she was (she didn't even take a test) had the blood work done it was negative she had PMDD she thought because she eating ice cream and pickles she had to be pregnant and didn't even test it was more along the line that her sister (younger) and I were pregnant at the time and she didn't like that we were getting attention from other people about it
@ttcbaby_1, Doing IVF was a big decision for me. Neither my or hubby’s insurance covers IVF. We’ve been TTC naturally for the last decade. Currently, I’m 36 y/o. I was at that fork in the road where I said it’s now or never. So I took the plunge bc I felt this is my last ditch effort at this point to get pregnant especially with my health complications. However, I wasn’t suggesting you do IVF. I only mentioned it bc it allowed me to know when to test. Based on my timeline it looks like you can test positive if you are 4 weeks pregnant. The HCG hormone will be weak but you may get a reading. If you are TTC naturally and tracking ovulation, etc. then test as soon as you miss your first period.
@ttcbaby_1 if your OB can't get you in you PCP should be able to do a blood test as well my OBs office typically won't do a blood test till the doctor's office did one first
