I know I can probably google it and I have but I can’t really find any good answers... do any of you mommy’s know if it’s ok to get tattoos while breastfeeding? I need to finish my sleeve ASAP after baby boy is out.

@beccancall, so if you end up with any infection or bacteria getting into your body, it can be passed to baby. It’s common sense

@beccancall, the tattoo shop said ink gets into your blood stream not milk lol. My friend is an artist also.

@ambers14 who says that? Tattoo ink does not pass through breast milk. Biggest concern imo is having an open wound at a time in which you may not have a ton of free time for self care and are regularly in contact with fecal matter. But if you don't mind adding the task of cleaning and moisturizing several times a day (and of course are going to a reputable place with clean needles), no concern for baby.

@jenloveee3, lol. Well they said do not feed cause it goes into the blood stream. Tattoos can seriously wait lol. I need to add my sons foot prints to my half sleeve but I’m waiting

@ambers14, I don’t think I would trust what my tattoo shop tells me to do when it comes to motherhood lol but if I have to dump I rather just wait to finish my sleeve! I work too hard for that milk lol

Yes you can. Most shops won't If the know because you are at a higher risk for infection. Which can go to the baby via your milk. As long as you stay really healthy and keep it clean and use and use a&d like crazy you shouldn't have any issues at all. I'd wait until the baby is at least 4 months though just to be on the safe side. To avoid potential allergies that could occur. *husband is a licensed tattoo artist *

Edit: Yes a clean reputable shop should always be your first choice but after care is just as (if not more so) important.

You should wait til you’re done nursing.
