How do I know if I'm producing enough milk??. First time breastfeeding

@marialovey7, what she said ☝🏻@jellybeans_mumm, 😂 You can also try putting some breastmilk on your nipples after each feed and letting it air dry. It really helps a lot. Look on you tube for different positions that may help with latch and speak to a lactation consultant if you have access to one. Remember tummy to mummy and chin first with head tilted back. That helps get as much of your nipple in babies mouth and should help with the latch.

The first 2-3 days you have colostrum its thick and filling. The baby will only need a tiny bit because their tummy is the size of a marble. You should be nursing every 2 hours. On the first day its 1 wet 1 poo diaper. 2nd day 2 wet 2 poo. Nurse on demand and if baby is cranky and attaching to boob nonstop its called cluster feeding which is natures way of the baby getting your milk to come in and provide enough milk for their growth. These growth spurts, cluster feedings and sleep regressions will come frequently the first year. I suggest buying what to expect the first year. Answers mang questions on nursing and overall baby growth birth to 1 year.

@marialovey7, you will feel a let down when you breastfeed , try putting lansinoh cream it shouldn’t hurt when she’s sucking she’s probably not latching correctly try positioning her differently

Go by wet and dirty diapers and baby’s weight gain. Keep offering baby to the breast to bring your milk in and regulate your supply. Babies cluster feed a lot in the beginning so it’s easy to think you don’t have enough milk because they never seem satisfied but it’s because they process the milk so quickly and their tummies are so small not because you don’t have enough milk in most cases.
