Wednesday my 3 year old had an allergic reaction to a new medication that contained sulfur. Luckily we have a rule that no new meds are given for the first time at night. Had we of given her the med the night we got it it could of very well killed her as by the time we got to the dr office her tonsils had started to swell. She only took this med once. NEVER GIVE NEW MEDS AT NIGHT or when you can't watch your child closely. It could save their lives.

It is a good lesson for me. I will keep this in mind when I have to give my baby medicine. It never crossed my mind before

@laniejay thank you!! I have a cousin who is also allergic to it as well as her great grandmother is. Of course no one shared this info with me until after the fact. Lol but I'm glad we know now. That's for sure.

That’s super scary! I didn’t think about that before, but will take that advice! I’m allergic to sulfa as well. Be super careful—- several times as a child I was prescribed medicines with it even though my record clearly states my allergy- it wasn’t realized until we were at the pharmacy and my mom (or I) checked. They always fixed it without too much of a wait, but Scary! A lot of medicines contain it.
I’m so glad your baby is okay!!! That is terrifying!

Glad your baby is ok! Great advice, we are the same. Sulfur allergies can be genetic so be careful. My mom is allergic so they won’t give me them at all.

@charityaynn you're welcome

@bernardinohuerta88 you're welcome! Drs tell you to be cautious with new foods but it seems most fail to mention the same with medication.
