If tested positive for strep b what happens next ?
@madalynnelenamom2016 right and that's so true I'm like the only one that have had a vaginal birth in my family everybody else had c section I used to feel left out but they used to say well you're the smallest in the family with babies weighing over 8 lbs and they came natural my oldest thou I almost died I was so young and had preeclampsia that turned to eclampsia and resulted in bad seizures I didn't even remember the labor process with pain I just remember them saying push and having tubes and IVs all up my thigh and side cause they say I kept snatching them out my arms I don't remember nothing about his birth but push and I did that for at 30 minutes my other two were pieces of cake
@ambrerumph1440, girl we all are warriors and strong women c section or virginal birth we all have a scar whether it was cut or not 💖💖 we have stretch marks and that we carried our babies til the end and we all had pains and symptoms and so much common we are all awesome I love hearing birth stories and everyone has a birth story to tell their kids one day
@madalynnelenamom2016 o my I'm praying all is well with you and baby and I heard it hurts worse I never was induced but they gave me pitocin to speed up one centimeter and it was our hell so I can imagine doing the whole 10 on pitocin thy did say thy wanna induce me about a month ago but I told them straight up no if it's not life or death cause I did all mine natural and could handle it I don't think o would with being induced and carrying a baby and being able to show them where they came from I love it sometimes I be wishing I had a scar to tell them you were here
@ambrerumph1440, you To I pray a safe and healthy labor and pregnancy I am so nervous because getting induced heard some stories that it’s more painful than going into labor on own and what to expect and I honestly I’m just happy that my first daughter came out safe she did have jaundice for a few days but was healthy and now she is 2 and is bad lol but I love her and I think the c section with her was painful but the infections i was getting and it wasn’t healing properly or even closing so it was a long painful and hard experience but I wouldn’t trade it for anything because I had a experience and it comes with a scar that I will one day tell my daughter and with this pregnancy I want to try for a virginal this time but scared lol I was there for my sis in law and was painful for her and seeing her in labor I been freaking out lol because this baby will be bigger because her baby weighed 4 pounds 3 ounces
@madalynnelenamom2016 o my sorry to hear that when I went about a week ago my baby was measuring 6lbs 5oz sorry you had to go thru that and healing process omg I had all mine natural I pray I have him natural to my due date is August 27th nobody thinks I'ma make it thou they think he's going to come within a week or so including the dr I pray for a safe delivery thou babe
@ambrerumph1440, you welcome 💖 and my due date is August 22 but I’m getting induced August 15 since she weighed 5 pounds 12 ounces at 34 weeks 6 days so they don’t want me to go all the way to due date because she may be bigger and there is a risk of a c section so I’m trying to avoid a c section because I won’t have any help if I did have a c section plus my first experience with my daughter with c section was horrible since I had gestational diabetes with my first daughter so it took almost 8 months to fully heal out side and plus we have a 2 year old so I want to do normal birth this time
@madalynnelenamom2016 I was negative with my other kids and I pray for a safe labor for you also hun and I'm very nervous they aren't talking about inducing me so much now at this moment so I'm very scared being I had my last son in 15 minutes of labor and they progress fairly quickly and thanks again hun
@rybugg413, does it go away
@ambrerumph1440, wow see I didnt know about this test because with my first daughter I didn’t get this done so when she was explaining I was like ummm I didn’t do this with my first and she was like did u go here I was like yes ma’am but I thought many it was a new thing they was doing but nope so she told me if I tested positive she would prescribe meds to take til labor which I was confused when I got my results and googled but omg girl I pray a safe labor and pregnancy for you I’m scared because I had my first daughter emergency c section and this pregnancy I’m getting induced on 15th of August I’m so nervous it’s not far away i will see my doctor this week coming up so hopefully she can give me more info and what she going to do
Just antibiotics through your iv at hospital. I had it with both my boys, probably this one too
I tested positive when I was about 28 weeks so since I'm a carrier they automatically will give me penicillin when I go into labor immediately they have tested me about three more times after and all was positive so she say she won't check me again since I'm at the end of the pregnancy just automatically taking precaution that I have it when I go into labor and go soon labor starts I can't sit home and labor they want me there at the hospital getting the rounds of antibiotics
@madalynnelenamom2016, Yeah, that’s what that is. They write things in medical terms so the doctor knows what means what.
@miaheka, o ok they just updated on my chart
@madalynnelenamom2016, lol the plus + sign is positive and rv is rectum, vagina. It’s basically the hospital term for GBS positive.
@miaheka, what is +rv culture
@madalynnelenamom2016, that’s funny, and weird that they’ve never done it in your previous pregnancy.🤔 Unless it was new to them? 😅 I think the pills might just be for you, but the IV is definitely for baby.
@miaheka, no she has been there way before I had my daughter but she was in shock that I didn’t get it done lol and he said so what now what they going to do I’m like I don’t know pills or ivy I don’t know
@madalynnelenamom2016, He might! Most men and women do have gbs. Like I said, it’s a common bacteria.🤷🏻♀️ She must be a new doctor at that clinic. lol 😂
@miaheka, girl it was same clinic different doctor lol but she was in shocked that I didn’t get test done with my daughter but I’m glad I got tested for this pregnancy lol I was crying calling my husband saying I tested positive for the butt swab and virgina swab lol he was like omg do I have it lol i was dying 😂
@madalynnelenamom2016, lol was it the same doctor? It’s definitely scary if not treated, so make sure you tell them. 🙈
@its.a.bird, yes I will for sure I see my doctor next week so I will ask her about the ivy meds for it as well because I seen the symptoms and what happens if baby gets it on google and it’s dangerous and scary
@miaheka, i was like when did y’all do this because with my first daughter I didn’t get this test done lol she was like are u sure because we always do this I’m like nope don’t recall of getting this done but I’m glad I did get it done because I’m relieved that it was caught on time because what can happen if not treated is pretty scary and dangerous if baby gets it
@madalynnelenamom2016, there’s nothing to be scared about, it’s just a common bacteria that a lot of men and women have in their bodies. The antibiotics is solely for your baby so they are born without an infection. My midwife was very helpful and informative in this subject, because I too was freaked out about it before I even got swabbed. 😅🙃
@miaheka, yes I was just confused because my doc said she would prescribe pills and then read online they give in ivy while in labor
@miaheka, i will def tell Hospital when I go for induction that I tested positive for it because I read to much on google and it’s scary
@olivbee, that’s what I read online that it can come back but I don’t know what she is going to do
I didn’t have it, but my midwife discussed with me what would happen if I did, and it’s really nothing to worry about, just make sure they give you antibiotics at l&d.
@its.a.bird, that’s what I thought but I read online that doctors can give u pills meds ahead of time but not recommended because it can come back while in labor and when my doctor did the swabs she said if I tested positive for it she would prescribe pills to take for it
@madalynnelenamom2016 I have to get that done my next appointment so I was just curious
@madalynnelenamom2016, they most likely aren’t. I would just make sure you tell the ob and nurses caring for you during labor and delivery that you tested positive and I’m sure they’ll give you antibiotics while you wait for baby’s arrival. I’ve never heard of pills either. Could be an older method?
You’ll probably just get treated via IV during labor if you have enough time. My doctor said treating it prior to labor is pointless basically because it is likely to come back.
@miaheka, group B strep test she said if I tested positive for it that she would prescribe pills but I read online that it isn’t effective to use pills because it can come back or something like that so I’m confused
@madalynnelenamom2016, do you mean group B strep? If she says that’s what it’s for, then yes. Some doctors and midwives do it differently.
@miaheka, my doctor said she would prescribe pills is it the same thing ?
They’ll just give you antibiotics when you go to the hospital
@rybugg413, thank you !!
