I’m breast feeding going great so far, do I need to be burping him even tho he’s not getting a bottle ?

Yes for now. Depending on his latch he could still be swallowing air. If he doesn't burp after a bit, continue feeding or move on with your day. You probably won't get burps as much as bottle fed.
