My doctor asked how I feel about being induced at 39 weeks (currently 37.2). I guess doctors are doing this more. My baby is over 6 lbs by now; I’ll found out exact weight when I go in tomorrow. At first I said no and I was fine with just waiting it out. But my husband leaves the country for work at the end of August, and if I happen to go late, which can happen, we risk him not being present for birth. Has anyone been induced before or been asked this question?
My sister was induced and said it was not the best choice for her however she was only 37 weeks. Baby labor time was almost 2 days and eventually just ended up having an unplanned unwanted C-section.
Wasn't induced early, but my daughter decided to come 7 weeks early. My husband was out of the country for her birth.
It's not the end of the world, have a backup plan (I didn't but it worked out). Sure, he was upset he missed it, but he did the best he could to get home. Our daughter loves him just the same, even though he wasn't there for the first few hours. (She was being cared for by the NICU team anyway)
@evanoeluke, there is but I’ve done it twice and my kids are great. They both were born at 38.6 weeks. It used to not be such a big deal. Now things have changed. I don’t care what anyone says, I want my husband there and the baby will be full term. So if the dr says let’s do it, then might as well if it’s something ideal for your situation.
@evanoeluke I understand wanting your husband to be there. I was upset I had to go through having our 1st baby without him, but we had no other option. He didn't come home until she was 2 months already. I will say, now, looking back on it, it wasn't the end of the world not having him there.
@evanoeluke, induction leads to a whole other list of potential medical complications so it seems strange they’d induce when there’s no risk to Mom or baby. It also increases the risk of needing a csection. It’s crazy to me to induce just because.
@ambers14, I feel like there’s so much criticism surrounding this topic and I just don’t know what to make of it
@emily526, it’s just such a tough one. I hear so many people say your first baby goes so late. I know neither of us could imagine my husband not being present for the birth but I prefer it to happen naturally.
@laniejay, I don’t know. From what I’ve read online that’s considered full term..? So I guess they ask if you’re interested in getting baby out
I’ve been induced with both of my girls. If this baby doesn’t come by 39 weeks then I’m inducing. My husband also travels for work, so we want to make sure he’s there.
@evanoeluke Well you never know when baby could come. My 1st came unexpectedly at 35 weeks! I don't personally trust my Dr but unfortunately I don't have much of a choice on who to see at this point. If you're comfortable being induced it's your body and if your Dr says it's ok than it's your decision to make.
@evanoeluke, I agree. Especially since I still wasn’t even dilated or anything a week past my due date. 😂 If I didn’t get induced I don’t think he would’ve ever come on his own. 😅
@miaheka, I think in your case that definitely makes more sense! Being late term and having an induction makes sense
@emily526, Yeah it’s not something I really want to do. I didn’t want to induce for selfish reasons but was just praying the baby comes sooner than later. Since I have no control over that it just is what it is.
I was induced at 41+1 day. My midwife recommended I get induced since I went past 40 weeks, and B. wasn’t giving us any signs of him coming out anytime soon. 😅
My Dr didn't even ask about inducing they just flat out said we induce at 39 weeks. I won't be doing that though unless it is medically necessary, I personally don't agree with inducing for any reason other than medical. My husband wasn't present for our 1st born, but full term or not he would've missed it so I wasn't in a rush.
Trigger. Lost baby
Went in for my 20 week check up and found out our son had passed away. Nothing was wrong, my pregnancy has been going great. I'm so numb right now. I'll he delivering him later this week. I don't want to do this. I don't want to do this. Not before Christmas. How am I'm going to tell my kids?? My dear sweet baby boy. Why did this happen?
Please help!
My doctor is trying to induce me before 40 weeks because she's going to be off on my due date and says my placenta is starting to look old. How do I get labor started?? I don't want to be induced for no reason and I'm thinking I won't have a choice. Please help. What do I do to get things going?
What the hell has happened on here? What with all the drama, all I have managed to find is that someone has said somebody is lying about being pregnant wtf ...... What the hell is going on 😐
I wonder what would my doctor say if i ask to be induced at 39 wks when i go to my app Monday
@jasminmarie5, yeah at this point I’ve decided against it. But just going to hope she comes sooner than later
