Not from OK but I’m pretty sure baby can take any name you want it to have. If he wants to be on the birth certificate he will have to be there to sign it.

Our son has his dad's last name, not mine. When we filled out the info for the birth certificate, I just wrote his name how we wanted it to be. We both signed and done.

We won’t be married before our daughter comes but she’s still taking his name. Don’t want to go through the name changing process more than just me

Here in TX we're considered common-law marriage, so we were able to put his last name for our first and will be doing so for our second as well. But other than the regular papers to be signed for mom and dad, nothing new except for when they ask you you just say common-law and all is good

You can name baby whatever yippy want first, middle and last whether marrued or not

You don't have to be married or anything for him to take his last name. He's the dad so that's all the matters. He will have to sign the birth certificate and some other things , just as you will. That's basically it.

Yes^^ like pp said, you don’t have to be married.. Baby can have dads last name😇 both my kids have my husbands last name and we weren’t married at the time.

Baby can have whatever name you want him to have in any state, but in ID my husband (before we were married) did have to sign a paper saying that he claimed our son as his so pretty much an acknowledgment of paternity that got notarized and that was it, super easy 🤷🏼‍♀️

I'm in exact same situation and live in Tahlequah OK. I juat told them what I want my sons name to be and he signed an acknowledgement of paternity and that was that . My baby has his daddy's first and last name. I had him at Tahlequah City and that's what they did.

@majorreign which doctor did you see? I've been seeing Champlain.

@x_graveyard_baby_x I saw Champlain once but delivered with Dr. Monroe bc I felt more comfortable. I had an awesome delivery experience with him. I went 26hrs in labor and he would be so calm he would come in every so often check me tell me I'm good and then came back to push. I have anxiety so I needed some one calm and not all hyped about catching a baby.

@x_graveyard_baby_x yeah he is. The midwife Jenny is awesome too. I would recommend Dr. Ahmad for the babies pediatrician if you haven't chose yet. He is so smart and has so many years experience. He has been both of my boys Drs. He takes these little humans health very serious.

You just put your finances last name on the birth certificate. He won't have to do anything special or any extra steps. You fill in whatever you want baby's name to be and you and dad both sign, no biggie.

I'm in OK as well and was unmarried when I had my first son, you can name your child whatever you choose, (your dude could be Jones and you could be Anderson and y'all could name him Smith if you wanted... ;) ) your marital status is of no consequence on that note... as far as paternity, if you guys aren't married then he would sign the affidavit acknowledging paternity and go on the birth certificate...
