Just got a “for fun” ultrasound today and everything seemed totally fine at the time, but now looking back at the pictures the baby kind of has a weird neck I feel like and it’s got me stressing a little bit. I know there’s something about the neck that can be a sign of Down’s syndrome so if anyone has experience with that do you mind taking a look? I know y’all aren’t doctors but maybe some of you have some insight. They didn’t say anything at the ultrasound but again it wasn’t with my doctor we paid to get one so they wouldn’t have said anything anyway. Pic in comments

@__m, thank you that makes me feel better! Unfortunately it wasn’t an ultrasound with my doctor it was just a private place you pay to go to which I think is why I’m kinda worried.

My ultrasound tech told me that at these private places the techs don’t even go to school. They learn on the job. So even if something was wrong, the likelihood of them knowing would be slim.
Did you have your NT scan? I think that’s done around 12-16w. They measure the space behind baby’s neck to determine the odds of Edwards and Down syndrome.

@cams, I know, and they didn’t say anything I noticed it after I got home and thought it looked strange and was wondering if anyone has a similar experience.
My doctor doesn’t do NT scans they just wait until the anatomy scan to determine if there are any abnormalities or do the harmony test which we opted out of

@k_nc, oh, that’s too bad. Just looked it up. NT must be done between 11-14w. That combined with 1 trimester screening could have given you an idea if you’re at higher risk. The anomaly scan is mainly to determine fetal structural abnormalities, not necessarily Down syndrome.

@cams, well there are physical features that can determine Down’s syndrome which is why my husband and I opt to wait until the anatomy, I just wanted opinions on if anyone though that baby’s neck looked weird or if it looked like theirs with no issues. Just want to ease my mind or be prepared 😊
