Anyone not having a baby shower? I’m on my second baby and I have no desire for one! I could take the money that will be spent at a shower and buy baby needs. Living in NYC a baby showers are not cheap at all so I would spend a good 2k-4K. People think I’m being ridiculous for not wanting one

I live in NYC too and that’s insane to spend that much. Go right to Central Park and you will be good to go.

I had a full blown shower for my first born, and a “Meet The Baby” BBQ for my second. With our second it was just a family dinner party and gifts were optional. With our third he had a brain injury at birth and the first year in and out of hospital so we never did anything, but family tried to help out with things he needed. I think for our next we would just have a BBQ again. I’m not a huge fan of baby showers to be honest..🤷♀️ I find it awkward because people bought me things I already had because I like to shop lol

@yamip91, like wise lol

Never had one. I dont like baby showers. Dont even like attending to them😂

I had one for my first 2 but my 3rd we decided not to. Mind u we had nothin at all. We just bought little by little. I don’t see anything wrong with u not wanting one. Whoever thinks ur being ridiculous can still buy something for the baby.

Honestly I live in Brooklyn and I don't see why you are spending 2-4k in a baby shower. I know how expensive NYC is but you can have a baby shower without spending that much. Go to central park, the brooklyn pier... idk there are nice places out there or have it at your place! I didnt have a baby shower with my second because i didnt feel like it though, its not a big deal.

@lulu85_18, yea I told my husband I don’t want one and we should take that money and buy baby stuff. I think it’s pointless especially living in the city and everything here is super expensive
Lulu·
I didn’t want one for my second. My mom and sister put a small one together for me and just had it at home.
If you have to spend your own money, it’s not worth it. If someone volunteers to do it, that’s a different story. My coworkers were also nice enough to put some money together and get me a gift card and cake. It was very unexpected.
Hopefully, people you know will just volunteer to chip in here and there with some small baby things. Every bit helps. Using the discounts from all my registries, we were able to get everything we needed on a strict budget.

yeah, ( the ones who threw my shower ) spent so much on my babyshower as well!
the location itself was like $250+ an hour ( top floor, indoor and outdoor seating, 360 city / mountain / water views ) and we originally booked for 4 hours but ended up staying for 7.. ( thanks mother 💗 )
That alone, could have been a lot of stuff for baby!
im on the westcoast though 😂

@joselin.salazar47, well then. Aren’t you just a 🍑 . I thought it was just a conversation.
Jessie ·
@laniejay, you answered my question and that’s it. I’m not asking you to question everything else.
Jessie ·
@laniejay, easier said than done ...
Lanie Jay·
@joselin.salazar47, why though? Why rent. Only invite who will fit in your place or a park. There’s no need for the over the top stuff. Way out of hand

I didnt have 1 w my this one and it's my 2nd, I had absolutely no desire at all I did at first but my bd family is the reason I said naa lol
Jessie ·
@laniejay, that’s manhattan for you. Renting a place with nothing would be around 1,500 unfortunately

What?!? Who the hell spends $2-4K on a baby shower?!? We had small intimidate gatherings for each baby to celebrate them.
Jelly·
I won’t do one if I have a second. Normally we just do one for your first kid. Unless there’s a huge age gap.

This is our first child and we are not having one. New to town, friends and family are far away. It’s not a big deal. We are focusing on what we can provide the baby without stressing about throwing a party. It’s about you and your significant other being on this journey. Plus that way you get what you want too!

I didn't want one but my sister is throwing me a sprinkle..it's suppose to be smaller than a baby shower
